BONDERITE L-FG 31
BONDERITE L-FG 31
Bonderite ·

Bonderite L-FG 31 is one of the world's most widely used forging release agents — a water-based graphite lubricant for semi-hot, hot forming and precision forging with excellent dispersion stability.

Bonderite L-FG lubricants from Henkel/Acheson are specially formulated for forging and extrusion applications — water- or oil-based graphite and MoS₂ dispersions with excellent lubrication and release properties at high tool temperatures. L-FG 31 is tailored to specific industrial applications — the most important properties and areas of application are listed below.

World's most widely used forging release agent

Bonderite L-FG 31 (formerly Deltaforge 31) is one of the world's most widely used forging release agents—a water-based graphite lubricant with excellent dispersion stability (no settling). Microfine graphite particles and a special stabilizer/binder system provide outstanding lubrication and release properties, higher dilution rates, and extended tool life.

processing

1
Prepare the forging tool
Keep tools and dies clean and free of old lubricant residue.
2
Dilute the concentrate
Dilute with water in the specified ratio (see TDS) — typical dilutions: 1:10 to 1:50.
3
Application (spray or swab)
Apply to the hot tool using a spray system (automated) or a brush/swab (manual).
4
Check tool temperature
The lubricant forms the optimal lubricating film at the tool-contact temperature.
5
Forging process
Die forging, pressing, hot stamping — lubricant reduces friction and protects the tool.
6
Tool maintenance
Check tools after each shift/day, clean with Bonderite cleaner if necessary.

Frequently asked questions about L-FG 31

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Bonderite L-FG 31: One of the world's most widely used forging release agents — a water-based graphite lubricant for semi-hot, hot, and precision forging with excellent dispersion stability. Main applications: semi-hot, hot, and precision forging.

Forging release agents are applied to the hot forging tool and, at tool temperature, form a lubricating film of microfine graphite (or synthetic lubricants in graphite-free variants such as F 605). This reduces friction between the workpiece and die, extends tool life, and allows for higher dilution ratios. Bonderite L-FG 31 + F 31 (Deltaforge) are the most widely used standards worldwide.

Store in the unopened original container in a dry, cool place — typically between +5 and +40 °C, see TDS for exact values. Protect water-based products from freezing. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Observe the expiry date on the packaging. Store aerosol sprays at a low temperature and in a well-ventilated area.

In the comparison table above, you will find related Bonderite products with different properties—different carrier media, different solid lubricants, different temperature ranges, or different application specializations. If you are unsure about the optimal choice, we would be happy to advise you—contact SILITECH with your specific application (substrate, temperature, load, processing workflow).
