Addition-curing 2K mold-making silicone with excellent release properties and high mechanical strength.

BLUESIL RTV 3430 SB A&B is a two-component silicone elastomer that cures at room temperature via a polyaddition reaction. It is specifically formulated for silicone molds with very good release properties and is suitable for castings made from casting materials that require gentle demolding, such as decorative or ornamental parts. It is a self-bleeding silicone: a non-reactive silicone oil migrates to the surface and improves demolding.

Self-bleeding, dimensionally stable, robust

Mixed in a ratio of 100:10 (A:B), pot life approx. 180 minutes at 23 °C, demolding after 24 hours. After mixing, degas under vacuum of 30 to 50 mbar. Cured hardness Shore A approx. 28, tensile strength approx. 4.5 MPa.

What sets RTV 3430 SB apart

Very good release properties
Self-bleeding silicone: a non-reactive silicone oil migrates to the mold surface and improves demolding.
High mechanical strength
Tensile strength approx. 4.5 MPa, elongation at break approx. 450%, tear propagation resistance approx. 20 kN/m.
Detail fidelity
Excellent detail reproduction for demanding impressions.
Long pot life
Approximately 180 minutes at 23 °C, providing sufficient working time for larger molds.
Low shrinkage
Linear shrinkage 0.1%, measured 7 days after curing at 23 °C.

Processing

Mixing
Re-mix components A and B before each use.

Mixing
Mix 10 parts of B into 100 parts of A, by hand or with a slow-running mixer, to minimize air entrainment.

Degas
Degas under vacuum of 30 to 50 mbar; the product expands to 3 to 4 times its volume and then collapses back.

Curing
Best conditions at 23 °C, demolding after 24 hours, wait 24 hours for best properties.

Important Notes

  • Note dimensional changes: as a self-bleeding silicone, repeated castings can extract silicone oil and cause the mold to shrink. Additionally, temperature-related volume changes occur (linear expansion coefficient approx. 1.7 x 10^-4 °C^-1). Plan for high dimensional accuracy.
  • Risk of inhibition from sulfur and derivatives, ammonia and amines, chlorides, polycondensation RTV catalyzed with metal salts, PVC stabilizers, and silver salts. Use only dedicated tools.
