Bluesil Additive PC Thixo is a special thixotropic additive for the Bluesil RTV-2 polycondensation range (RTV 3325) — enabling application with a brush/spatula on vertical models.

Bluesil additives modify the rheology, thixotropy, or surface properties of Bluesil RTV systems, paints, or inks. The PC Thixo additive is tailored to specific applications—its key properties and areas of use are listed below.

Thixotropy for vertical application

Bluesil additive PC THIXO 0.2–0.5% modifies the flow behavior of Bluesil RTV-2 polycondensation systems such as RTV 3325 — the mixture becomes highly viscous and can be applied with a brush or spatula to vertical models, low reliefs, and overhanging geometries. Demolding time is 16 hours after application.

Processing

1
Prepare main component
Paint/varnish/ink/RTV base fully formulated before additive addition.
2
Dosing the additive
0.2–2% w/w depending on the application. For pigments, add only after pigment grinding.
3
Stir in carefully
Homogenize evenly — no streaks or unevenness.
4
Conduct preliminary test
For critical applications, test inter-layer adhesion with a preliminary test.
5
Processing
After adding the additive, process as usual — processing properties may change (flow behavior, wetting).

Frequently asked questions about PC Thixo additive

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Bluesil PC Thixo Additive: Special thixotropic additive for the Bluesil RTV-2 polycondensation series (RTV 3325) — enables application with a brush/spatula on vertical models. Main applications: Vertical models, low reliefs, overhanging geometries.

The exact dosage depends on the application — typically 0.2–2% w/w. For paints and varnishes, add after pigment grinding. For RTV thixotropy additives: add to the mixed RTV base and catalyst. Test compatibility in a preliminary trial before use — excessive dosage may impair interlayer adhesion.

Store in the unopened original container in a dry, cool place — typically standard between +5 and +30 °C, exact values see TDS. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Observe the expiration date on the packaging — Elkem guarantees the sales specifications only up to the stated date.

In the comparison table above, you will find related products with similar functions or related specifications. If you are unsure about the optimal choice, we will be happy to advise you — contact SILITECH with your application (desired property, substrate, processing workflow).
