Permabond A134 is a high-strength anaerobic threadlocker in paste form — designed for permanent screw connections with coarse tolerances, highest vibration requirements and WRAS drinking water approval.

The thixotropic paste consistency does not drip from vertical threads and fills gaps up to 0.5 mm — six times more than standard low-viscosity threadlockers. This makes A134 the ideal choice for coarse threads, overhead bonding, or tolerances that a liquid product cannot accommodate.

With a breakaway torque of 30 N·m and a further tightening torque of 50 N·m, A134 delivers high strength — disassembly usually requires heating. The WRAS approval also qualifies A134 for sanitary and drinking water installations.

SPECIAL FEATURE

High-strength paste threadlocker with 0.5 mm gap filling — the top performer for permanent bonds under the toughest vibration resistance. Paste consistency for vertical applications, WRAS approved.

What distinguishes Permabond A134

High-strength paste threadlocker
30 N·m breakout strength, 50 N·m further — durable, heavily stressed adhesive bonds.
0.5 mm gap filling
For coarse thread tolerances without pre-machining.
Paste consistency
Does not drip — safe application on vertical or overhead threads.
WRAS approved for drinking water
Direct contact with drinking water is permitted.
Excellent vibration resistance
High torque reserve against dynamic loads.
Corrosion protection
Completely seals threads — no moisture ingress.

What is Permabond A134 used for?

Coarse threads with high load
M-threads with a gap width of over 0.2 mm — for example in heavy industry.
High-strength vertical screw locking
The paste consistency allows for safe application on upright threads.
Permanent bonding of screw connections
When the screw connection no longer needs to be loosened.
Drinking water systems with coarse screw connections
WRAS-approved + 0.5 mm gap filling.
Machine and plant assembly is demanding
When standard Threadlocker is insufficient.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with Permabond Cleaner A or a solvent (acetone, isopropanol). Rough surfaces (~25 µm) result in higher bond strength than polished surfaces.
2
Apply adhesive
Apply Permabond A134 directly from the bottle — for through holes, apply a stripe along the thread length; for blind holes, apply a few drops to the bottom. Do not touch the tip to metal surfaces (this will cause premature hardening in the bottle).
3
assembling components
Insert the screws and tighten them to the required torque. For shaft-hub fits, assemble the components before the adhesive begins to cure.
4
Allow to harden
Anaerobic curing begins in the absence of air and in contact with metal. Handling strength is typically achieved after 15 minutes, functional strength after 1 hour, and full strength after 24 hours at 23 °C.
5
Accelerate curing (optional)
Permabond A905 activator can be used on inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum) or at low temperatures — applied to one adhesive surface, allowed to evaporate, then adhesive applied to the other side.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
Disassembly requires heating the connection above 200 °C. Not for contact with oxygen. Some thermoplastics may be affected.
storage
Store at 5 to 25 °C. Anaerobic adhesives lose their reactivity upon contact with metal — do not touch the tip of the bottle to metal surfaces, do not pour the adhesive back into the bottle.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond A134

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond A134 is a single-component, anaerobic acrylic threadlocker with a paste consistency (thixotropic) and a gap-filling capacity of up to 0.5 mm. This high-strength paste threadlocker offers 0.5 mm gap filling and superior vibration resistance. Anaerobic adhesives cure in the absence of air and in contact with metal, making them ideal for tight-tolerance metallic joints.

Anaerobic adhesives like Permabond A134 remain liquid in the bottle (due to contact with air and oxygen) and only begin to harden after bonding under anaerobic conditions and metal-to-metal contact. Curing starts at the metal surface and progresses into the bond gap. The product cures quickly on steel and copper; on stainless steel and zinc, the Permabond A905 activator may be beneficial.

Difficult to remove — Permabond A134 is high-strength (30 N·m breakaway torque). Disassembly typically requires heating the bond to 200 °C or more. Designed for permanent bonding.

Permabond A134 is approved according to WRAS drinking water regulations . These certifications qualify the product for the specified applications — such as direct contact with drinking water in the case of WRAS and KTW approvals.

Permabond A134 typically reaches handling strength after 15 minutes and functional strength after 1 hour at 23 °C on M10 steel. Final strength is reached after 24 hours. On inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc) or at low temperatures, the curing time is extended—Permabond A905 activator accelerates the process.

Permabond A134 is a high-strength threadlocker with a paste consistency (thixotropic viscosity, 0.5 mm gap filling, 30 N·m breakaway torque). Permabond A118 is a high-strength universal threadlocker (400 mPa·s, 0.12 mm gap filling, 33 N·m breakaway torque) — low viscosity, highest torque. Both belong to the anaerobic Permabond A series.

The choice depends on the application: Permabond A134 (high-strength threadlocker, paste consistency); Permabond A118 (high-strength universal); Permabond HH131 (high-strength, high-temperature); Permabond A025 (high-temperature, high-strength). For inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum), Permabond A905 activator be used to accelerate curing.
