Permabond HH131 is a high-strength, high-temperature resistant anaerobic threadlocker with DVGW gas and KTW-BWGL drinking water approval — designed for large threads up to M56 and the highest requirements in gas and water installations.

With its thixotropic paste consistency (22,500 mPa·s at 2 rpm), HH131 does not drip from vertical threads and fills gaps up to 0.3 mm. Its thread range up to M56 (2 inches) is exceptional—most threadlockers are limited to M20 or M30.

The unique combination of DVGW gas approval and KTW-BWGL drinking water approval qualifies HH131 for gas and water installations—a dual certification possessed by only a few anaerobic adhesives. Its high-temperature resistance and high strength (27 N·m breakaway strength, 54 N·m extension, 17 MPa shear strength) make it the premium choice for industrial installations.

AUTHORIZATION & SPECIAL PROPERTIES

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with Permabond Cleaner A or a solvent (acetone, isopropanol). Rough surfaces (~25 µm) result in higher bond strength than polished surfaces.
2
Apply adhesive
Apply Permabond HH131 directly from the bottle — for through holes, apply a stripe along the thread length; for blind holes, apply a few drops to the bottom. Do not touch the nozzle to metal surfaces (this will cause premature hardening in the bottle).
3
Joining components
Insert the screws and tighten them to the required torque. For shaft-hub fits, assemble the components before the adhesive begins to cure.
4
Allow to harden
Anaerobic curing begins in the absence of air and in contact with metal. Handling strength is typically achieved after 15 minutes, functional strength after 1 hour, and full strength after 24 hours at 23 °C.
5
Accelerate curing (optional)
Permabond A905 activator can be used on inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum) or at low temperatures — applied to one adhesive surface, allowed to evaporate, then adhesive applied to the other side.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
Disassembly typically requires heating the joint. Not for oxygen service. Some thermoplastics may be affected.
storage
Store at 5 to 25 °C. Anaerobic adhesives lose their reactivity upon contact with metal — do not touch the tip of the bottle to metal surfaces, do not pour the adhesive back into the bottle.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond HH131

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond HH131 is an anaerobic acrylic adhesive with a viscosity of 22,500 mPa·s @ 2 rpm / 7,000 mPa·s @ 20 rpm (thixotropic) and gap filling up to 0.3 mm. It is a high-strength, high-temperature resistant threadlocker with DVGW gas and KTW drinking water approval — for threads up to M56. Anaerobic adhesives cure in the absence of air and in contact with metal — ideal for tight tolerance metallic joints.

Anaerobic adhesives like Permabond HH131 remain liquid in the bottle (due to contact with air and oxygen) and only begin to harden after bonding under anaerobic conditions and metal-to-metal contact. Curing starts at the metal surface and progresses into the bond gap. The product cures quickly on steel and copper; on stainless steel and zinc, the Permabond A905 activator may be beneficial.

Difficult to remove — Permabond HH131 is high-strength (27 N·m breakaway torque). Disassembly typically requires heating the bond to 200 °C or more. Designed for permanent bonding.

Permabond HH131 is approved according to DVGW gas approval and KTW-BWGL drinking water approval . These certifications qualify the product for the respective specified applications—such as direct contact with drinking water in the case of WRAS and KTW approvals.

Permabond HH131 typically reaches handling strength after 15 minutes and functional strength after 1 hour at 23 °C on M10 steel. Final strength is reached after 24 hours. On inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc) or at low temperatures, the curing time is extended—Permabond A905 activator accelerates the process.

Permabond HH131 is a high-strength, high-temperature threadlocker (paste) (22,500 mPa·s @ 2 rpm / 7,000 mPa·s @ 20 rpm (thixotropic) viscosity, 0.3 mm gap filling, 27 N·m breakaway torque). Permabond A134 is a high-strength paste (paste, 0.5 mm, 30 N·m breakaway torque) — standard high-strength A-series. Both belong to the anaerobic Permabond A-series.

The choice depends on the application: Permabond HH131 (high-strength, high-temperature resistant threadlocker paste); Permabond A134 (high-strength paste); Permabond A118 (high-strength universal threadlocker); Permabond A025 (high-temperature high-strength threadlocker). For inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum), Permabond A905 activator be used to accelerate curing.
