Permabond A113 is the universal medium-strength anaerobic threadlocker — for industrial screw connections that need to be tight and vibration-resistant, but should remain removable for maintenance using normal tools.

With a viscosity of 500 mPa·s, A113 is low-viscosity and fills thread flanks with gaps up to 0.12 mm wide. Curing occurs in the absence of air between the threads—handling strength after 15 minutes, final strength after 24 hours.

The breakaway torque of 12 N·m is in the classic medium-strength range — strong enough to resist vibration, but removable with standard tools without heating. The WRAS approval additionally qualifies A113 for direct contact with drinking water — relevant for sanitary and water installations.

APPLICATION PROFILE

The standard all-rounder among anaerobic threadlockers — medium strength, vibration-resistant, and removable with standard tools. The universal choice for most industrial bolted connections that need to be secure but remain serviceable.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with Permabond Cleaner A or a solvent (acetone, isopropanol). Rough surfaces (~25 µm) result in higher bond strength than polished surfaces.
2
Apply adhesive
Apply Permabond A113 directly from the bottle — for through holes, apply a stripe along the thread length; for blind holes, apply a few drops to the bottom. Do not touch the tip to metal surfaces (this will cause premature hardening in the bottle).
3
assembling components
Insert the screws and tighten them to the required torque. For shaft-hub fits, assemble the components before the adhesive begins to cure.
4
Allow to harden
Anaerobic curing begins in the absence of air and in contact with metal. Handling strength is typically achieved after 15 minutes, functional strength after 1 hour, and full strength after 24 hours at 23 °C.
5
Accelerate curing (optional)
Permabond A905 activator can be used on inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum) or at low temperatures — applied to one adhesive surface, allowed to evaporate, then adhesive applied to the other side.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
Not for use in applications involving contact with vapor or pure oxygen. Avoid prolonged contact with strong acids or polar solvents. May attack some thermoplastics.
storage
Store at 5 to 25 °C. Anaerobic adhesives lose their reactivity upon contact with metal — do not touch the tip of the bottle to metal surfaces, do not pour the adhesive back into the bottle.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond A113

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond A113 is a single-component, anaerobic acrylic adhesive with a viscosity of 500 mPa·s and a gap-filling capacity of up to 0.12 mm. It is a medium-strength threadlocker that is vibration-resistant and removable with tools. Anaerobic adhesives cure in the absence of air and in contact with metal—ideal for tight-tolerance metallic joints.

Anaerobic adhesives like Permabond A113 remain liquid in the bottle (due to contact with air and oxygen) and only begin to harden after bonding under anaerobic conditions and metal-to-metal contact. Curing starts at the metal surface and progresses into the bond gap. The product cures quickly on steel and copper; on stainless steel and zinc, the Permabond A905 activator may be beneficial.

Yes, with tools — Permabond A113 is medium-strength (12 N·m breakaway torque) and can be loosened with standard tools. If necessary, the bond can be gently heated to facilitate disassembly.

Permabond A113 is approved according to WRAS drinking water regulations . These certifications qualify the product for the specified applications — such as direct contact with drinking water in the case of WRAS and KTW approvals.

Permabond A113 typically reaches handling strength after 15 minutes and functional strength after 1 hour at 23 °C on M10 steel. Final strength is reached after 24 hours. On inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc) or at low temperatures, the curing time is extended—Permabond A905 activator accelerates the process.

Permabond A113 is a medium-strength threadlocker (500 mPa·s viscosity, 0.12 mm gap filling, 12 N·m breakaway torque). Permabond A011 is a low-strength threadlocker (500 mPa·s, 0.12 mm gap filling, 4 N·m breakaway torque) — low strength — easily removable. Both belong to the anaerobic Permabond A series.

The choice depends on the application: Permabond A113 (medium-strength threadlocker); Permabond A011 (low-strength); Permabond A130 (medium-strength WRAS); Permabond A134 (high-strength). For inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum), Permabond A905 activator be used to accelerate curing.
