BLUESIL RTV 147 A&B is a two-component, addition-curing RTV-2 silicone that cures at room temperature to form a heat-resistant, elastic molding material with Shore A 60.

RTV 147 A is mixed with hardener RTV 147 B in a 100:10 ratio and forms a flowable paste after mixing, which hardens without generating heat of reaction. RTV 147 A and 148 A can be mixed in any ratio to achieve a medium hardness.

embed in a heat-resistant manner

Addition-curing RTV-2 silicone with very good thermal stability (peak temperature up to approx. +300 degrees C), good reversal resistance and good dielectric properties, designed for thermal insulation and the embedding of electrotechnical systems.

What makes RTV 147 stand out

Heat stable
Very good thermal stability, peak temperature up to approx. +300 degrees C, brittle point -70 degrees C.
Reverse-resistant
Good reversibility resistance, even in enclosed environments.
Rapidly heat-curable
It can be cured quickly and without bubbles by heating up to 150 degrees Celsius.
Good mechanics
Tensile strength 6.0 MPa, elongation at break 180%, tear strength over 15 kN/m.
Dielectric
Dielectric strength 18 kV/mm, volume resistivity 5 x 10^14 Ohm.cm.
Adjustable firmness
Mixable with RTV 148 A for medium hardness, e.g. 50:50 with 10 parts 147 B yields Shore A 55.

What is the RTV 147 used for?

Thermal insulation
Manufacturing of thermal insulation devices.
Flexible insulators
Cast, flexible insulators.
Molded gaskets
Cast molded gaskets.
Embedding electrical engineering
Potting protection for electrotechnical systems.

processing

1
Prepare and mix
Stir both components before use. Add 10 parts RTV 147 B to 100 parts RTV 147 A and mix slowly to limit air intake.
2
Degas
Degas at 30 to 50 mbar; RTV 147 requires particularly long degassing due to its high viscosity; use a container with a high diameter-to-height ratio.
3
Shed
Pour slowly and evenly, starting from the lowest point for thick layers, do not fill completely.
4
Curing
Demoldable at room temperature after 24 to 48 hours, accelerated curing in 4 hours at 65 degrees Celsius, 1 hour at 100 degrees Celsius or 30 minutes at 150 degrees Celsius.

Important instructions

  • Addition crosslinking is sensitive to inhibition: avoid sulfur-containing rubbers, metal salt-catalyzed RTV, tin-stabilized PVC and amine-crosslinked epoxides; test in advance if in doubt.
  • Viscosity before catalysis can be reduced by up to 10% with BLUESIL FLD 47V100; higher concentrations will impair the properties of the finished part. Linear shrinkage is approximately 0.1% at room temperature.
  • The relevant information is the current Elkem data sheet (TDS and SDS), which we will gladly send you.

Frequently asked questions about RTV 147

Practical application and design questions, answered by SILITECH.

100 pieces RTV 147 A to 10 pieces RTV 147 B.

Peak temperature up to approx. +300 degrees C, brittle point -70 degrees C, good reversion resistance.

Shore A approx. 60, tensile strength 6.0 MPa, elongation at break 180%, tear strength over 15 kN/m.

Yes, RTV 147 A and 148 A are freely miscible; 50:50 with 10 parts 147 B results, for example, in Shore A 55.
