range
Our silicone product groups
RTV-1 silicones
Single-component and ready-to-use: Sealing, bonding and protecting in assembly and maintenance.
RTV-2 silicones
Two-component material for mold making, molding, and potting. Selection based on Shore hardness, viscosity, and pot life.
Silicone oils & fluids
Lubricating, damping, separating, hydrophobizing. Viscosity determines the selection.
Silicone pastes & greases
Lubricates and protects O-rings, seals and fittings, even on plastic and rubber.
silicone sprays
Lubrication, separation and care in maintenance and repair.
silicone resins
For thermally stressed, electrically insulating and protective applications.
Primers & Bonding Agents
Silicones do not adhere to every surface: primers ensure a secure bond.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between RTV-1 and RTV-2 silicones?
RTV-1 silicones are one-component, ready-to-use, and cure at room temperature through atmospheric humidity, from the surface inwards. Typical applications include sealing, bonding, protection, and assembly. RTV-2 silicones consist of two components (base and hardener), cure throughout their entire cross-section after mixing, and can be specifically selected based on Shore hardness, viscosity, and pot life. They are the standard for mold making, casting, potting, and technical molded parts.
Which silicone is suitable for mold making?
For mold making, addition-curing RTV-2 silicones such as the SILISIL MF series or Bluesil RTV 3428/3450 are suitable. The Shore hardness depends on the application: Shore A 20 to 25 for flexible molds with undercuts, Shore A 35 to 45 for standard molds, and Shore A 50 and higher for abrasion-resistant molds. Tear strength, viscosity, and pot life are also important factors. We will review the selection based on your casting material and the technical data sheets.
Are your silicones food-grade or biocompatible?
Individual products are suitable, but suitability must always be verified on a product-specific basis. For food contact applications, the platinum-crosslinked SILISIL PP series is designed according to the technical documentation. For medical-grade applications such as podiatry and prosthetics, we offer the SILISIL MD series. These products are tested according to ISO 10993-5/-10/-23 (cytotoxicity, sensitization, skin irritation) for skin contact on intact skin with long-term use exceeding 30 days (manufacturer's study 2023). Further suitability, such as mucous membrane or implant contact, is not covered. We also offer Silbione RTV 4411/4420 (healthcare grade); specific documentation according to the manufacturer's documentation is available upon request. We will review the regulatory requirements of your application based on the technical documentation. Certificates and documentation are available upon request.
