Bluesil Elkem Silicones SKU 40-907A.KE.K025

BLUESIL RTV 148 A&B (with hardener 147 B) is a two-component, addition-curing RTV-2 silicone that cures at room temperature to a softer (Shore A 40), heat-resistant elastomer.

RTV 148 A, with a viscosity of approximately 10,000 mPa·s, is significantly lower than RTV 147 A and is mixed with the hardener RTV 147 B in a 100:10 ratio. RTV 147 A and 148 A can be mixed in any proportion to adjust the hardness.

Soft and pourable

Low-viscosity, addition-curing RTV-2 silicone with a soft setting (Shore A 40), very good thermal stability and good pouring and venting properties, designed for thermal insulation and flexible insulators.

Shore A 40, softer setting than RTV 147.
Low viscosity
Approx. 10,000 mPa.s, easy to pour and vent.
Heat stable
Very good thermal stability, peak temperature up to approx. +300 degrees C, brittle point -70 degrees C.
Reverse-resistant
Good reversibility resistance, even in enclosed environments.
Good mechanics
Tensile strength 3.5 MPa, elongation at break 160%.
Adjustable firmness
Mixable with RTV 147 A for higher hardness.

What is the RTV 148 used for?

processing

1
Prepare and mix
Stir both components before use. Add 10 parts RTV 147 B to 100 parts RTV 148 A and mix slowly.
2
Degas
Degas at 30 to 50 mbar, release the vacuum once or twice.
3
Shed
Pour slowly and evenly, starting from the lowest point for thick layers, do not fill completely.
4
Curing
Demoldable at room temperature after 24 to 48 hours, accelerated curing in 4 hours at 65 degrees Celsius, 1 hour at 100 degrees Celsius or 30 minutes at 150 degrees Celsius.

Important instructions

  • Addition crosslinking is sensitive to inhibition: avoid sulfur-containing rubbers, metal salt-catalyzed RTV, tin-stabilized PVC and amine-crosslinked epoxides; test in advance if in doubt.
  • Viscosity before catalysis can be reduced by up to 10% BLUESIL FLD 47V100. Linear shrinkage approx. 0.1% at room temperature.
  • The relevant information is the current Elkem data sheet (TDS and SDS), which we will gladly send you.
