Bluesil adhesion promoter primers — prepare critical substrates (metal, plastic, glass, polyester) for bonding with silicone elastomers, providing significantly higher shear strength than untreated substrate. Primer 131 is tailored to specific applications — the most important properties and areas of use are listed below.
Bluesil Primer 131 is the proven universal adhesion promoter for the Bluesil RTV and CAF series — especially on stainless steel, aluminum, and PMMA. First prepare the substrate clean and degreased, then apply the primer and allow it to dry for at least 30 minutes before silicone bonding.

Bluesil Primer 131: Universal adhesion promoter primer for bonding silicone elastomers to stainless steel, aluminum, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), and many metals. Main applications: stainless steel bonding, aluminum bonding, PMMA bonding.
First prepare the substrate clean, grease-free and dry (degrease with acetone, sand if necessary). Apply the primer thinly and evenly with a brush or by dipping. Allow to dry for at least 30 minutes at 23 °C, then apply the silicone (RTV/CAF/Bluesil) to the primed area. For polyaddition silicones, the primer must not contain any inhibitors.
Store in the unopened original container in a dry, cool place — typically standard between +5 and +30 °C, exact values see TDS. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Observe the expiration date on the packaging — Elkem guarantees the sales specifications only up to the stated date.
