How SILITECH came to be. And who is continuing the story.

The step towards owning your own business

Bruno Fivian, Thierry Furrer and Markus Liechti take over the chemical-technical products division of Shell Aseol AG and found SILITECH AG. They continue to run the business under their own name at Steigerhubelstrasse in Bern.

They know the products and their customers. Now they decide the future of the business themselves: which partnerships to cultivate, which products to include, and where to invest. They share responsibility for these decisions.

The product range is expanding

Silicones were among the early focus areas. Henkel products were added in 2002, followed by Acrystal in 2004. This expanded the product range in various directions: adhesives and sealants for industrial bonding on the one hand, and casting materials for mold making, art, and design on the other.

The new product areas bring with them new questions. How does a connection hold up under stress? How can a surface be faithfully reproduced? Such tasks also deepen the company's technical expertise.

A new location in Gümligen

In 2008, SILITECH moved to Worbstrasse 173 in Gümligen. Office, warehouse, and bottling plant remain at this location to this day. This allows for quick and easy coordination of consultations and deliveries.

In 2010, Bioresin was added to the resin product range. This includes casting resins whose resin components are partially based on renewable raw materials. A year later, Markus Liechti took over as Chairman of the Board of Directors from Bruno Fivian. Together with Thierry Furrer, he led the company through the following years.

Florian Liechti joins in

Florian Liechti, the son of co-founder Markus Liechti, joins the company. He learns about the products, familiarizes himself with the processes, and experiences collaboration with customers, suppliers, and the team.

Five years will pass before the management takes over. Time to understand why some things are done the way they are – and to develop one's own perspective on what can be changed.

Florian Liechti takes over as managing director

After five years with the company, Florian Liechti is taking over as CEO. Markus Liechti will remain associated with SILITECH as a member of the board of directors.

The next phase of development focuses on technical consulting, digital processes, and the development of new markets. Products and documentation will be made more easily accessible, and inquiries and orders will be processed more simply. Personal collaboration with customers will remain an essential part of the business.

Quality management is certified

In February, SILITECH received ISO 9001:2015 certification. This covers the trade and services related to chemical-technical products and materials.

Specialty chemicals from Gümligen

SILITECH combines the product range of international manufacturers with its own brands SILISIL and SILIRESIN. Silicones, adhesives and sealants, resins and lubricants are used in industry, trade and design.

Whether it's a new application, a small test quantity, or the next delivery for production: behind it all is a team that personally takes care of the technical and practical questions.
