SILIRESIN Biothan 2 MD 2170-200 N is an electrical casting resin based on oleo-, sunflower-, soy- and rapeseed polyols with carboxyldiene groups, which is characterized by very good thermal conductivity, high temperature and cold resistance as well as very good chemical and hydrocarbon resistance. It cures with Biodur hardeners M 330, M 333, or M 338 in a mixing ratio of 2:1 to 4:1 without external heat (pot life approx. 35 to 40 min for 250 g, demoldable after approx. 120 min, final curing 8 to 12 h at 20 °C or 1 to 2 h at 120 °C) and, depending on the hardener and ratio, achieves Shore D 40 to 80 A/70-80 A, with shrinkage below 0.1%, cold flexibility down to -25 °C, and heat resistance above 140 °C. Typical applications include internal and external electrical insulating components, transformers, and support and mast insulators; free of cadmium, amines, and solvents, and requires no labeling.
