SILISIL Retarder A — Pot life retarder for platinum-curing 2K silicones
SILISIL Retarder A is a liquid additive for the targeted extension of the pot life and curing time of platinum-curing 2K silicone systems from the SILISIL series. The additive is mixed into the A-component in small doses and shifts the reaction kinetics without affecting the final properties of the cured silicone.
The retarder is particularly suitable for larger casting volumes or hard-to-reach mold geometries where more processing time is required.

Processing and Dosing
- Dosage: typically 0.1–2 % based on the A component (exact range see TDS)
- Mix thoroughly into the A component before adding the B component
- A higher dosage proportionally extends pot life and curing time
- Excessive dosage can impair final cross-linking — preliminary tests recommended
Storage
- Keep cool and dry in unopened original container
- Close carefully after opening

Answers on dosing and application.
The extension depends on the dosage. At 0.5–1%, the pot life typically extends by a factor of 1.5 to 3, depending on the base system. Refer to the TDS for exact values and please conduct preliminary tests.
With correct dosage (below 2%), Shore hardness and mechanical properties are largely retained. At higher dosages, final crosslinking may remain incomplete.
SILISIL Retarder A is approved for all platinum-curing 2K silicones in the SILISIL series. It has no effect on condensation-curing silicones (tin-curing).
The retarder is first mixed into the A-component and distributed homogeneously. Only then is the B-component added. This prevents premature cross-linking.
