SILISIL THIXO AGENT (thickener)

Thickening additive for RTV-2 condensation and addition silicones. 

SILISIL THIXO AGENT is an additive for adjusting the thixotropic properties of RTV-2 silicones. Its addition allows the flow behavior of the silicone to be precisely adjusted from liquid to pasty or sag-free.

The thickened silicone runs off less on vertical or inclined surfaces and is therefore particularly suitable for brush, stroke and vertical molding.

Special features of this variant: Thixotropic / Putty: stable on vertical surfaces, non-flowing.

Recommended dosage

  • RTV-2 condensation silicones: 2-4% by weight
  • RTV-2 addition silicones: 0.1–1 wt.%

The required amount depends on the silicone system used and the desired consistency. It is recommended to start with the lowest dosage and gradually increase the amount added.

Processing and Mixing

SILISIL THIXO AGENT PC is thoroughly incorporated into the silicone base before the hardener or the second component is added. The addition should be made gradually until the desired consistency is reached.
The specific processing instructions for the RTV-2 silicone used must still be observed. Preliminary tests are recommended, as the thickening effect can vary depending on the silicone system.
