Addition-curing 2K silicone in a 1:1 ratio for potting and encapsulation in electronics and electrical engineering.

BLUESIL RTV 8352 LV A&B is a two-component silicone elastomer that cures at room temperature via a polyaddition reaction; curing can be accelerated by heat. It is supplied as a viscous liquid and, after mixing A and B and curing, becomes a solid, elastic material. The 1:1 mixing ratio is insensitive to dosing errors and is suitable for machine processing. Typical applications include coating and encapsulation in electrical and electronic engineering.

1:1 potting compound for electronics

Mixing ratio 1:1 by weight, pot life approx. 130 minutes (23 °C, 50 % relative humidity), demolding after approx. 8 hours. Curing can be accelerated by heat, at 120 °C in approx. 1 hour. Optional additives: Accelerator BLUESIL ACC PA 39 and Retarder BLUESIL RTRD PA 40.

What sets RTV 8352 LV apart

1:1 mixing ratio
Favorable 1:1 mixing ratio by weight, insensitive to inaccurate dosing, and suitable for 2K machines.
Low viscosity
Viscosity of the components approx. 2,200 mPa·s at 23 °C, easily pourable and refillable.
Heat curing possible
Cures at room temperature in about 8 hours, can be accelerated by heat, at 120 °C in about 1 hour.
Dielectric properties
Dielectric constant 3.6 (IEC 60250), volume resistivity 1.4 x 10^15 Ohm-cm (IEC 60093).
Heat dissipation
Designed for heat dissipation during potting.

Processing

Mixing
Stir both components thoroughly before use.

Mixing
Ratio 100:100 by weight (1:1), by hand or with a slow-running stirrer to avoid air entrainment.

Degas
Degas under vacuum of 30 to 50 mbar for about 10 minutes, releasing the vacuum twice during this time.

Pouring and curing
Clean and degrease the substrate, slowly pour the mixture at the lowest point; curing takes about 8 hours at 23 °C, can be accelerated by heat.

Important Notes

  • Risk of inhibition due to sulfur-vulcanized natural or synthetic rubbers, RTV catalyzed with metal salts, PVC stabilized with tin salts, and epoxies catalyzed with amines. When in doubt, perform a preliminary test and use the degassing system only for this RTV type.
  • Store in original containers between -10 °C and 30 °C for up to 6 months from the date of manufacture.
