Product Description
LOCTITE AA 3491 – UV-curing, transparent acrylate adhesive for glass and multi-material bonding
Product Description
LOCTITE AA 3491 is a one-component, modified acrylic adhesive specifically developed for highly transparent, impact-resistant bonds. It cures within seconds under UV light (365 nm) and offers excellent resistance to moisture, water, and repeated dishwasher cycles.
Thanks to its optical clarity, it is particularly suitable for applications where the adhesive joint should remain nearly invisible, for example on decorative glass surfaces, molded glassware, or automotive lighting components.
The product can be cured with UV light of low or high intensity and is particularly suitable for fast series production. Its high heat and aging resistance make LOCTITE AA 3491 a reliable choice for demanding industrial applications.
Suitable materials
- Glass (clear or structured)
- Aluminum
- Steel and stainless steel
- Epoxy resin composites (G-10)
- PVC
- ABS
- Polycarbonate*
- Acrylic glass*
* Check for stress cracking beforehand.
Typical application areas
- Glass-to-glass bonds with high optical requirements
- Bonding of decorative glass surfaces
- Manufacture of molded glassware
- Assembly of automotive lighting
- Potting and sealing applications
- Series production with short cycle times
Processing instructions
- Keep bonding surfaces clean, dry, and free of grease.
- Process product protected from light (UV-sensitive).
- Application from black dispensing lines to prevent premature curing.
- Recommended UV intensity: min. 40 mW/cm² for bonding applications.
- For surface hardening in coatings or potting: min. 100 mW/cm².
- Protect sensitive plastics from overheating.
- Remove excess, uncured adhesive with acetone.
- Allow the bond to cool after curing before applying load.
