PERMABOND UV610
Permabond · Permabond Engineering Adhesives Ltd ·

Permabond UV610 is a high-strength UV-curing adhesive for glass furniture and load-bearing glass-metal bonds — the standard choice for furniture manufacturers with high strength and aesthetic requirements.

With 600–1,300 mPa·s, UV610 is medium-viscosity and fills standard glass gaps. The high elongation at break of 95% provides reserves against dynamic stress — important for furniture that is moved or loaded in everyday use.

The high glass-to-steel shear strength of 13–16 N/mm² qualifies UV610 for structural bonding — table legs to glass tabletops, glass shelves to steel wall brackets, and glass furniture construction in general. The optical clarity makes the bond line appear invisible.

APPLICATION PROFILE

High-strength UV adhesive specifically for glass furniture and load-bearing glass-metal bonds — superior adhesion strength of 13–16 N/mm² and 95% elongation at break. The standard for furniture manufacturers with high-quality glass aesthetics.

Processing

1
Clean surfaces
Prepare bonding surfaces clean, dry, and free of grease — degrease with isopropanol or acetone. For aluminum/copper, lightly sand to remove the oxide layer. For plastics, check compatibility.
2
Apply adhesive thinly
Apply Permabond UV610 thinly and evenly — directly from the bottle or via a dispensing device. Keep the adhesive protected from light exposure. Avoid air entrapment.
3
Join and align components
Assemble quickly and precisely. For glass bonding, spread the adhesive into a thin film by applying pressure. Do not move components during UV curing.
4
Cure with UV light
Aim the UV lamp at the bond line. Curing time depends on lamp power, wavelength, and light transmission of the components — typically 1–5 seconds with a 30 W/cm² light guide system, or 5–15 seconds with a 4 mW/cm² low-power lamp.
5
Full strength after UV exposure
After complete UV curing, the components are immediately handleable. Final strength is achieved immediately after irradiation. For dual-cure products (UV + anaerobic), allow an additional 24 hours for complete anaerobic curing of shadow areas.

Important Notes

Not suitable for / Important notes
Store protected from light. LED-UV lamps spectral range 365–400 nm. Check compatibility with thermoplastic substrates.
Storage
Store at 5 to 25 °C and protect from direct light exposure. Curing begins under UV light — keep the bottle in the dark and only open under UV-blocked light.

Frequently Asked Questions about Permabond UV610

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond UV610 is a methacrylic acid ester (UV-curing) adhesive with a viscosity of 600–1,300 mPa·s @ 20 rpm. A high-strength UV adhesive for glass furniture — superior adhesion to glass and metal. The adhesive cures upon exposure to UV light in the spectral range of 365–400 nm — curing in seconds "on demand".

Permabond UV610 cures in the spectral range of 365–400 nm. Suitable light sources include standard mercury vapor UV lamps, LED UV lamps with matching wavelength, or UV light guide systems. For LED lamps, the maximum wavelength of the LED must be matched to the curing spectrum of the adhesive — we are happy to advise you on the appropriate lamp selection.

Permabond UV610 typically cures in: 5 s with a 4 mW/cm² low-power lamp; 2 s with a 100 mW/cm² LED light; 1 s with a 30 W/cm² UV light guide system. The exact curing time depends on the layer thickness and light transmittance of the components.

Permabond UV610 bonds reliably: glass/steel: 13–16 N/mm². For thermoplastic substrates, we recommend checking compatibility before series production — mold release agents on injection-molded parts can impair adhesion.

Permabond UV610 is a medium-viscosity glass/metal adhesive (high-strength for glass furniture) (600–1,300 mPa·s @ 20 rpm viscosity, 95% elongation at break). Permabond UV605 is a wicking grade (50–100 mPa·s, 90% elongation at break) — low viscosity for micro gaps.

When stored at 5 to 25 °C and protected from light, Permabond UV610 remains stable until the printed expiration date. IMPORTANT: UV adhesives cure upon exposure to light — always store the bottle in the dark and open it only briefly under UV-blocked light. For daylight-stable variants (e.g., UV675), processing under ambient light is possible for short periods.

From the Permabond UV series, select based on substrate, viscosity, and special properties: Permabond UV610 (medium-viscosity glass/metal adhesive (high-strength for glass furniture)); Permabond UV605 (wicking); Permabond UV620 (optically clear); Permabond UV670 (flexible and impact-resistant). For shadow areas (where UV light does not fully reach the bond line), a dual-cure variant such as Permabond UV7141 (UV + anaerobic) should be used.
