Material requirements of this industry
Anyone who creates molds of sculptures, reliefs, architectural models, or technical prototypes needs materials that reproduce the finest details and can be processed reliably. RTV-2 silicones are selected according to Shore hardness, viscosity, tear strength, and pot life: softer types for heavily undercut originals, firmer types for dimensionally stable molds with a long service life. When casting with PU casting resin, epoxy resin, or Acrystal, mixing ratio, pot life, shrinkage, and surface quality are crucial; for larger volumes, exothermicity is also a factor. The release agent must be compatible with the mold material and resin system to ensure clean demolding and a surface that remains suitable for post-processing: testing in a real-world process is the most reliable method. We assist in matching the molding compound, casting resin, and release agent and provide the technical data sheets as a basis for your decision.
