WACKER POWERSIL Paste AP is a non-curing, medium-consistency silicone paste for electrical, mechanical, and technical assembly applications. It combines the dielectric properties of a high-quality silicone paste with good surface lubrication and reliable performance.
Thanks to the use of a special phenyl silicone oil, POWERSIL Paste AP exhibits virtually no swelling upon contact with adjacent silicone elastomers. The paste remains permanently pasty, is water-resistant, and water-repellent. It is particularly suitable for applications requiring a combination of electrical insulation, material compatibility, and ease of assembly.
Typical areas of application include cable connections, cable terminations, plugs, electrical connectors, as well as sealing and lubrication applications in the fields of energy transmission, electrical engineering, and technical assembly.
Advantages
- Very good electrical insulating properties
- High dielectric strength of approx. 20 kV/mm
- Good dielectric properties
- Virtually no swelling of adjacent silicone elastomers
- Non-hardening, remains permanently pasty
- Water-resistant and water-repellent
- Good surface lubricity
- Suitable as a lubricant, assembly and sealing paste
- Temperature resistant from approx. -40 °C to +200 °C
- Especially suitable for cable accessories, cable connections, cable terminations, plugs and connectors
Typical applications
WACKER POWERSIL Paste AP is used for:
- Cable connections
- Cable terminations
- Plugs and electrical connectors
- Cable accessories
- Assembly aid for electrical components
- Sealing and lubrication applications
- Applications involving contact with silicone elastomers
- Technical assembly processes in which components are greased before assembly
In energy transmission and distribution, POWERSIL Paste AP is used, for example, to simplify the installation of cable terminations and cable connections.
processing
The paste is applied to the relevant components before assembly. It facilitates assembly, promotes good sliding properties, and can help prevent damage to components during assembly.
Before series production, suitability should be tested under the specific operating conditions, especially in contact with plastics, elastomers, seals or electrical components.
