Permabond 3D90 is a specialized cyanoacrylate infiltrant for 3D printed parts — designed to reinforce, smooth and provide high final strength to powder- or granule-based printed parts.
Unlike conventional superglues, Permabond 3D90 is formulated on an alkoxyethyl cyanoacrylate basis : ultra-low viscosity for maximum penetration into porous 3D printed parts, delayed curing for deep wicking even into bulky components and particularly low odor and bloom formation — pleasant in daily workshop use.
The result: 3D-printed parts with significantly higher mechanical strength, filled pores and a smooth, glossy surface — either through local brushing/drip application or by complete immersion in a dip bath.
Delayed curing with ultra-low viscosity — combines maximum capillary penetration into 3D printed parts with the time the adhesive needs to penetrate even deep pores and cavities before curing.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond 3D90
Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.
Permabond 3D90 is a specialized cyanoacrylate infiltrant for 3D-printed parts, especially those produced using SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) and binder jet printing. With its ultra-low viscosity (~4 mPa·s), delayed curing, and alkoxyethyl cyanoacrylate chemistry, the infiltrant penetrates deep into porous structures, mechanically reinforcing the component, filling pores, and resulting in a smooth, glossy surface.
Powder- or granule-based 3D printing processes (SLS, binder jetting, etc.) produce components with a porous internal structure—the printed particles are not 100% compacted, leaving small voids. An infiltrant is a low-viscosity, capillary-active resin that penetrates these pores and fills them after curing. The result: significantly improved mechanical strength, a smooth surface, and a longer component lifespan.
Alkoxyethyl cyanoacrylates are a special class within cyanoacrylate chemistry—unlike the more common ethyl or methyl cyanoacrylates. Their main advantages are a significantly reduced pungent odor and reduced bloom formation (the typical white haze around adhesive seams). This makes alkoxyethyl CAs particularly pleasant for workshop use and ideal for applications where appearance is important—such as Permabond 3D90 for 3D printing infiltration.
Permabond 3D90 is optimized for porous, granular printing processes: SLS (Selective Laser Sintering, e.g., PA12/polyamide powder), multi-jet fusion, binder jetting (sand, metal, or ceramic powder with binder), and powder-based polymer prints. For solid, closed printing processes such as SLA (stereolithography), DLP, or FDM, 3D90 is not the right product—these components do not have an open pore structure into which the infiltrant could penetrate.
For small components or local reinforcements (functional areas, corners, bearing surfaces), spot application with a brush, dropper bottle, or syringe is sufficient. For uniform penetration of the entire component—e.g., with thin-walled or complex geometries—the immersion method superior: completely immerse the component, remove it, and allow it to drip dry. This results in homogeneous reinforcement across the entire volume.
Permabond 3D90 should be stored unopened in a refrigerated location between 2 and 7 °C. Allow to warm to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation. Opened bottles or dip baths may lose reactivity over time. For frequent use, we recommend: regularly renewing dip baths, tightly closing bottles after use, and protecting from light.
Permabond 3D90 is highly specialized for 3D printing infiltration. For more conventional bonding applications, there are more suitable Permabond CAs: Microgap/Wicking → Permabond 101.General Purpose → Permabond 102.High-Purity Rubber Bonding → Permabond 105.Highest Steel Strength → Permabond 910.Impact Bonding → 2050 or 240.Vertical/Drinking Water → 2010.NSF/Food Condition → 2011 Gel. UV+Medical → 130UV.
