Permabond UV625 is a thixotropic UV-curing gel adhesive for glass-to-metal bonding — designed for vertical applications, larger gaps and joints with impact strength requirements.

With 30,000–55,000 mPa·s @ 20 rpm and 120,000–250,000 mPa·s @ 2.5 rpm, UV625 is truly thixotropic—its consistency keeps the adhesive firmly in place even in vertical bonding applications. The deep cure depth allows for the bonding of thicker layers.

The elongation at break of >60% and the tensile strength of 16 N/mm² (ISO37) make UV625 the choice for dynamically stressed glass-metal connections — glass furniture in everyday use, glass designs with higher tolerances.

SPECIAL FEATURE

Thixotropic gel UV adhesive with high gap filling and impact strength — its paste consistency ensures it remains stationary even in vertical applications. Deep cure depth for larger gaps.

What distinguishes Permabond UV625

Thixotropic / Gel
Non-drip, stays in place in vertical bonding applications.
High gap filling
Curing depth for larger adhesive gaps.
Impact resistant
Flexible — good impact resistance of the bond.
Fast UV curing
1 second at 30 W/cm² optical fiber.
Excellent glass-to-metal adhesion
Standard for demanding bonding applications.
Yellowing resistant
Long-term stability.

What is Permabond UV625 used for?

Vertical glass-to-metal bonding
If liquid UV adhesives were to drip.
Glass designs with large gaps
Standard adhesives would not fill the gap sufficiently.
Impact-resistant glass furniture
Increased reserve against dynamic loads.
Overhead applications
The paste consistency allows application in any position.
Repair and maintenance
Selective application without expiration.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Prepare bonding surfaces to be clean, dry, and free of grease — degrease with isopropanol or acetone. For aluminum/copper, lightly sand to remove the oxide layer. Test compatibility on plastics.
2
Apply adhesive thinly
Apply Permabond UV625 thinly and evenly – directly from the bottle or using a dispensing device. Keep the adhesive protected from light. Avoid air bubbles.
3
Adding and aligning components
Quickly and precisely assemble. When bonding glass, spread the adhesive into a thin film by applying pressure. Do not move components during UV curing.
4
Cure with UV light
Point the UV lamp at the adhesive gap. Curing time depends on the lamp power, wavelength, and light transmittance of the components — typically 1–5 seconds for a 30 W/cm² fiber optic system or 5–15 seconds for a 4 mW/cm² low-power lamp.
5
Full strength after UV irradiation
After complete UV curing, the components are immediately ready for handling. Final strength is achieved immediately after irradiation. For dual-cure products (UV + anaerobic), an additional 24 hours are required for complete anaerobic curing of the shaded areas.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond UV625

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond UV625 is a methacrylic acid ester (UV-curing) adhesive with a viscosity of 30,000–55,000 mPa·s @ 20 rpm / 120,000–250,000 mPa·s @ 2.5 rpm (gel). This thixotropic gel UV adhesive is suitable for vertical applications, offers high gap filling, and is impact resistant. The adhesive cures upon irradiation with UV light in the spectral range of 365–400 nm, providing instant curing on demand.

Permabond UV625 cures in the spectral range of 365–400 nm. Standard mercury vapor UV lamps, LED UV lamps with a suitable wavelength, or UV light guide systems are all suitable. For LED lamps, the maximum wavelength of the LED must be matched to the curing spectrum of the adhesive—we are happy to advise you on selecting the right lamp.

Permabond UV625 typically cures in: 5 s with a 4 mW/cm² low-power lamp; 2 s with a 100 mW/cm² LED lamp; 1 s with a 30 W/cm² UV light guide system. The exact curing time depends on the layer thickness and the light transmittance of the components.

Permabond UV625 bonds reliably to glass/steel: 6–10 N/mm². For thermoplastic substrates, we recommend testing compatibility before series production — release agents on injection-molded parts can impair adhesion.

Permabond UV625 is a glass/metal gel UV adhesive (vertical, gap-filling) (30,000–55,000 mPa·s @ 20 rpm / 120,000–250,000 mPa·s @ 2.5 rpm (gel) viscosity, >60% elongation at break). Permabond UV675 is crystal clear (500–800 mPa·s, >50% elongation at break) — low viscosity clear.

When stored at 5 to 25 °C and protected from light, Permabond UV625 is stable until the printed expiration date. IMPORTANT: UV adhesives cure upon contact with light — always store the bottle in the dark and only open it briefly under UV-blocked light. Daylight-stable variants (e.g., UV675) can be used briefly under ambient light.

From the Permabond UV range, select according to substrate, viscosity, and special properties: Permabond UV625 (glass/metal gel UV adhesive (vertical, gap-filling)); Permabond UV675 (crystal clear); Permabond UV620 (optically clear medium); Permabond UV649 (plastic gel). For shadowed areas (where UV light does not fully reach the adhesive gap), a dual-cure variant such as Permabond UV7141 (UV + anaerobic) should be used.
