SILISIL Retarder A — Pot life retarder for platinum-curing 2K silicones
SILISIL Retarder A is a liquid additive for the targeted extension of the pot life and curing time of platinum-curing 2K silicone systems from the SILISIL series. The additive is mixed into the A component in a small dosage and shifts the reaction kinetics without affecting the final properties of the cured silicone.
The retarder is particularly suitable for larger casting volumes or difficult-to-access mold geometries where more processing time is required.

Processing and dosage
- Dosage: typically 0.1–2% based on component A (for exact range see TDS)

The extension depends on the dosage. At 0.5–1%, the pot life is typically extended by a factor of 1.5 to 3, depending on the basic system. Refer to the TDS for exact values and please conduct preliminary tests.
With correct dosage (below 2%), Shore hardness and mechanical properties are largely retained. At higher dosages, end-curing may remain incomplete.
SILISIL Retarder A is approved for use with all platinum-curing 2K silicones in the SILISIL series. It has no effect on condensation silicones (tin curing).
The retarder is first mixed into component A and distributed homogeneously. Only then is component B added. This prevents premature cross-linking.
