SILISIL Silicone Remover — Silicone cleaner for tools, molds and surfaces
SILISIL Silicone Remover is a solvent-based cleaner for the effective removal of uncured silicone residues and silicone oil films. The product is essential for tool and mold maintenance, cleaning before painting or bonding, and for removing silicone contamination in production environments.
Note: This remover will not damage uncured silicone or thin silicone oil films. For fully cured silicone elastomers, mechanical removal or a silicone remover is necessary.
Product benefits
- Effective silicone removal from metals, glass and many plastics
- Surfaces are reliably prepared for painting, gluing or printing
- Evaporates with minimal residue
- Odor-reduced formulation
- Compatible with most common workshop materials
Typical applications
- Tool cleaning: Removal of silicone residue from mixers, spatulas, dispensing guns
- Mold care: Cleaning metal molds after silicone casting
- Paint preparation: Remove all silicone residue completely before painting.
- Adhesive preparation: Remove silicone contamination for better adhesion.
- Production hygiene: Removal of silicone spray residues in paint lines
processing
- Use clean, lint-free cloths
- Apply the remover generously to the cloth and rub the surface
- For heavy soiling, repeat several times with a fresh cloth
- Then allow the surface to evaporate completely
- Do not use on sensitive plastics (e.g. ABS, polycarbonate) without prior testing
Storage and safety
- Store in a cool, dry place, covered — flammable liquid
- Do not inhale fumes; use only in well-ventilated areas
- Avoid skin contact — see SDS
SILISIL Silicone Remover is supplied by SILITECH AG from a Swiss warehouse — in various container sizes depending on the frequency of use.

Frequently Asked Questions about SILISIL Silicone Remover
Answers regarding application area and compatibility.
Only partially. SILISIL Silicone Remover dissolves uncured silicones and thin silicone oil films. Fully cured silicone elastomers must be removed mechanically—for this, there are special silicone removers such as DOWSIL OS Silicone Remover.
Yes, for most common plastics such as PE, PP, and PA. For sensitive materials like polycarbonate, ABS, or polystyrene, we recommend a prior compatibility test in an inconspicuous area.
Yes, that's exactly what it's optimized for. Silicone residue is the most common cause of paint flow defects (craters, fisheyes). The remover removes silicone from the surface before painting.
Depending on the substrate and layer thickness, typically 5–15 minutes. For sensitive subsequent processes (bonding, sealing), wait longer — see SDS for flash-off times.
