Permabond UV675 is a crystal-clear, UV-curing adhesive with daylight stability — designed for glass bonding applications that require further processing under ambient light after application, e.g., glass grinding or polishing.

UV675 is stable under ambient light (fluorescent lamps, daylight through windows) — it only cures under strong UV light (4 mW/cm² or higher). This property makes UV675 ideal for applications where the adhesive needs to be cleaned, sanded, or positioned after application.

The crystal-clear optics and resistance to yellowing qualify UV675 for high-quality glass art and crystal bonding — such as cut glass bevels, where polishing takes place after bonding.

SPECIAL FEATURE

Crystal-Clear UV adhesive with daylight stability — remains liquid under ambient light (fluorescent lamps, sunlight through windows), only curing under UV light. Ideal for glass components that will be cleaned or processed after bonding.

What distinguishes Permabond UV675

Crystal Clear
Maximum transparency, resistant to yellowing.
Daylight-stable
It only hardens under UV light — not under ambient light.
High Feast
8–12 N/mm² glass-steel, 16 N/mm² tensile strength (ISO37).
Low viscosity
500–800 mPa·s — fills a standard glass gap.
Fast UV curing
1 second at 30 W/cm² optical fiber.
Suitable for glass cutting
The adhesive can be polished after application.

What is Permabond UV675 used for?

Glass cut bevels
The bond can be polished without the adhesive curing.
High-quality glass art
Crystal-clear optics.
Crystal and glassware
Maximum optical clarity.
Glass structures with post-processing
Sanding or polishing after application.
Applications under daylight
If other UV adhesives would cure under ambient light.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Prepare bonding surfaces to be clean, dry, and free of grease — degrease with isopropanol or acetone. For aluminum/copper, lightly sand to remove the oxide layer. Test compatibility on plastics.
2
Apply adhesive thinly
Apply Permabond UV675 thinly and evenly – directly from the bottle or using a dispensing device. Keep the adhesive protected from light. Avoid air bubbles.
3
Adding and aligning components
Quickly and precisely assemble. When bonding glass, spread the adhesive into a thin film by applying pressure. Do not move components during UV curing.
4
Cure with UV light
Point the UV lamp at the adhesive gap. Curing time depends on the lamp power, wavelength, and light transmittance of the components — typically 1–5 seconds for a 30 W/cm² fiber optic system or 5–15 seconds for a 4 mW/cm² low-power lamp.
5
Full strength after UV irradiation
After complete UV curing, the components are immediately ready for handling. Final strength is achieved immediately after irradiation. For dual-cure products (UV + anaerobic), an additional 24 hours are required for complete anaerobic curing of the shaded areas.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
Store away from direct UV sources. Curing only occurs under UV light of 4 mW/cm² or higher.
storage
Store at 5 to 25 °C and protect from direct sunlight. Curing begins under UV light — keep the bottle in the dark and open only under UV-blocked light.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond UV675

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond UV675 is a methacrylic acid ester (UV-curing) adhesive with a viscosity of 500–800 mPa·s @ 20 rpm. This crystal-clear UV adhesive for glass is stable under daylight and fluorescent lamps. The adhesive cures upon irradiation with UV light in the spectral range of 365–400 nm—curing in seconds "on demand".

Permabond UV675 cures in the spectral range of 365–400 nm. Standard mercury vapor UV lamps, LED UV lamps with a suitable wavelength, or UV light guide systems are all suitable. For LED lamps, the maximum wavelength of the LED must be matched to the curing spectrum of the adhesive—we are happy to advise you on selecting the right lamp.

Permabond UV675 typically cures in: 7 s with a 4 mW/cm² low-power lamp; 2 s with a 100 mW/cm² LED lamp; 1 s with a 30 W/cm² UV light guide system. The exact curing time depends on the layer thickness and the light transmittance of the components.

Permabond UV675 bonds reliably to glass/steel: 8–12 N/mm². For thermoplastic substrates, we recommend testing compatibility before series production — release agents on injection-molded parts can impair adhesion.

Permabond UV675 is a crystal-clear UV adhesive for glass, resistant to light exposure (500–800 mPa·s @ 20 rpm viscosity, >50% elongation at break). Permabond UV620 is optically clear (2,200–2,900 mPa·s, >80% elongation at break) — medium viscosity clear.

When stored at 5 to 25 °C and protected from light, Permabond UV675 is stable until the printed expiration date. IMPORTANT: UV adhesives cure upon contact with light — always store the bottle in the dark and only open it briefly under UV-blocked light. Daylight-stable variants (e.g., UV675) can be used briefly under ambient light.

From the Permabond UV range, select according to substrate, viscosity, and special properties: Permabond UV675 (Crystal-Clear UV adhesive for glass, light-stable); Permabond UV620 (Optically clear); Permabond UV612 (Crystal clear visible); Permabond UV605 (Wicking). For shadowed areas (where UV light does not fully reach the adhesive gap), a dual-cure variant such as Permabond UV7141 (UV + Anaerobic) should be used.
