Bonderite L-FG F 31 – High-performance die lubricant is the world's most widely used die lubricant — a water-based graphite lubricant that is essentially odorless and fumeless, with a unique graphite particle size for higher dilution and longer die gluing life.
Bonderite L-FG lubricants from Henkel/Acheson are specially formulated for forging and extrusion applications — water- or oil-based graphite and MoS₂ dispersions with excellent lubrication and release properties at high tool temperatures. L-FG F 31 is tailored to specific industrial applications — the most important properties and areas of application are listed below.
Bonderite L-FG F 31 (formerly Deltaforge F-31) is the world's most widely used die lubricant — essentially an odorless and fumeless, water-based graphite lubricant. Its unique graphite particle size and special stabilizer/binder provide excellent lubricity, faster wetting, higher dilution ratios, and longer die holding time.

Frequently asked questions about L-FG F 31
Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.
Bonderite L-FG F 31 – High-performance die lubricant: The world's most widely used die lubricant — a water-based graphite lubricant that is essentially odorless and fumeless, with a unique graphite particle size for higher dilution and longer die sticking time. Main applications: Hot forging of steel, precision forging, and hot forging of steel.
Forging release agents are applied to the hot forging tool and, at tool temperature, form a lubricating film of microfine graphite (or synthetic lubricants in graphite-free variants such as F 605). This reduces friction between the workpiece and die, extends tool life, and allows for higher dilution ratios. Bonderite L-FG 31 + F 31 (Deltaforge) are the most widely used standards worldwide.
Store in the unopened original container in a dry, cool place — typically between +5 and +40 °C, see TDS for exact values. Protect water-based products from freezing. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Observe the expiry date on the packaging. Store aerosol sprays at a low temperature and in a well-ventilated area.
In the comparison table above, you will find related Bonderite products with different properties—different carrier media, different solid lubricants, different temperature ranges, or different application specializations. If you are unsure about the optimal choice, we would be happy to advise you—contact SILITECH with your specific application (substrate, temperature, load, processing workflow).
