BONDERITE L-FG M 1559 (12.5 kg) is a high-temperature grease with graphite/MoS₂ for the lubrication of tools, dies and containers in extrusion and forging processes — effective up to +450 °C, ideal for multi-hole applications.

Bonderite L-FG lubricants from Henkel/Acheson are specially formulated for forging and extrusion applications — water- or oil-based graphite and MoS₂ dispersions with excellent lubrication and release properties at high tool temperatures. L-FG M 1559 is tailored to specific industrial applications — the most important properties and areas of application are listed below.

Tool coating up to +450 °C

Bonderite L-FG M 1559 (formerly DAG M-1559) is a high-temperature grease with graphite and molybdenum disulfide for tool, die, and container lubrication in extrusion and forging processes. It is suitable for coated tools up to +450 °C and does not run off hot surfaces, keeping coatings within the working area. It reduces die wear and increases tool life.

What distinguishes the L-FG M 1559

Tool coating up to +450 °C
High-temperature resistance for demanding forging processes.
Dual lubrication effect: graphite + MoS₂
Significantly reduces die and tool wear.
Stays within the work area
Does not run off hot surfaces — coating remains effective.
Higher pressing rates possible
With lubrication reserve even at higher extrusion rates.
Reduced pickup
Improves concentricity — ideal for multi-hole dies.

What is the L-FG M 1559 used for?

Copper extrusion
Horizontal and vertical extrusion of copper and Cu alloys.
Steel forging
Forging processes with high tool temperatures.
Refractory metals (titanium)
Forging and extrusion of refractory metals.
Hot forging of complex components
Components that are difficult to shape.
Steel pipes hot drawing + swagging

processing

1
Prepare the forging tool
Keep tools and dies clean and free of old lubricant residue.
2
Dilute the concentrate
Dilute with water in the specified ratio (see TDS) — typical dilutions: 1:10 to 1:50.
3
Application (spray or swab)
Apply to the hot tool using a spray system (automated) or a brush/swab (manual).
4
Check tool temperature
The lubricant forms the optimal lubricating film at the tool-contact temperature.
5
Forging process
Die forging, pressing, hot stamping — lubricant reduces friction and protects the tool.
6
Tool maintenance
Check tools after each shift/day, clean with Bonderite cleaner if necessary.

Frequently asked questions about L-FG M 1559

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

BONDERITE L-FG M 1559 (12.5 kg): High-temperature grease with graphite/MoS₂ for lubricating tools, dies, and containers in extrusion and forging processes — effective up to +450 °C, ideal for multi-hole applications. Main applications: copper extrusion, steel forging, refractory metals (titanium).

Forging release agents are applied to the hot forging tool and, at tool temperature, form a lubricating film of microfine graphite (or synthetic lubricants in graphite-free variants such as F 605). This reduces friction between the workpiece and die, extends tool life, and allows for higher dilution ratios. Bonderite L-FG 31 + F 31 (Deltaforge) are the most widely used standards worldwide.

Store in the unopened original container in a dry, cool place — typically between +5 and +40 °C, see TDS for exact values. Protect water-based products from freezing. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Observe the expiry date on the packaging. Store aerosol sprays at a low temperature and in a well-ventilated area.

In the comparison table above, you will find related Bonderite products with different properties—different carrier media, different solid lubricants, different temperature ranges, or different application specializations. If you are unsure about the optimal choice, we would be happy to advise you—contact SILITECH with your specific application (substrate, temperature, load, processing workflow).
