Processing

1
Clean surfaces
Ensure bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free of grease — degrease with Permabond Cleaner A. Lightly sand the aluminum to remove oxides.
2
Mix components A + B
For dual cartridges: Attach the mixing nozzle (1:1 volume ratio). For larger containers, weigh precisely and mix thoroughly until no streaks are visible.
3
Apply adhesive + join components
Apply the mixed adhesive to a bonding surface and join the components together with sufficient pressure.
4
Fix components in place during curing
Use a clamping device or clamp. Avoid movement before handling stability is achieved.
5
Curing at room temperature
Final strength is typically reached after 24 hours at 23 °C. Exposure to heat accelerates the curing process.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond TA 4605

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

MMA structural adhesive 1:1 — industry standard bonding.

TA series MMA structural adhesives typically operate using a no-mix process: initiator on one surface, adhesive on the other—upon joining, the initiator activates the adhesive. Mixing ratio: 1:1 by volume. Handling strength after 2–10 minutes, final strength after 24 hours at 23 °C.

MMA structural adhesives (methyl methacrylate) offer higher impact and peel strength than classic 2K epoxies — important for dynamically loaded bonds. The no-mix processing with a separate initiator eliminates the pot life limitation. Cure time is typically faster (minutes instead of hours).

Permabond TA 4605 typically bonds metals (steel, aluminum), composites (CFRP, GFRP) and plastics. See TDS for detailed specifications.

Permabond TA 4605 does not have specific aerospace approvals like TA4246 (Boeing/Airbus). For industrial applications without aerospace requirements, the product is approved according to Permabond standards.

Permabond TA 4605 is a structural adhesive MMA 1:1 — Standard (1:1 volume parts mix). Permabond TA 4610 is a standard 1:1 (1:1) — Comparable.

From the Permabond MMA range: Permabond TA 4605 (structural adhesive MMA 1:1 — standard); Permabond TA 4610 (standard 1:1); Permabond TA 4200 (standard 1:1); Permabond TA 4246 (aerospace 10:1). For aerospace premium, see TA4246 (Boeing and Airbus approved). For highest industrial strength without an aerospace surcharge, see TA452.
