Permabond 792 is an extremely fast-curing, universal ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive with dual certification — MIL-A-46050C Class 2 and NSF S4 — and 2 to 3 seconds handling strength on virtually all common substrates.

With a viscosity of 60–125 mPa·s, 792 is medium-viscosity and fills gaps up to 0.15 mm. The curing speed of 2 to 3 seconds—identical on steel, Buna-N, and phenol—makes 792 the first choice for high-volume production lines.

The NSF S4 approval (Non-food Compounds Category Code S4) qualifies 792 for indirect food contact—such as maintenance and repair bonding in food processing plants. The MIL-A-46050C Class 2 approval additionally covers industrial, aerospace, and defense applications. On ABS (8 N/mm²) and PVC (10+ N/mm²), the tensile strength test results in substrate failure.

60–125 mPa·s and 0.15 mm gap filling — standard geometries without pre-machining.
Solvent-free
100% reactive — no mixing, no heat curing.
High temperature resistant
Tolerant of stoving enamel and wave soldering processes under moderate stress.

What is Permabond 792 used for?

Line production with short cycle times
2–3 seconds of hand strength — suitable for timed production processes.
Food, pharmaceutical and packaging industries
NSF S4 certified for maintenance and repair bonding in the non-food sector.
Industrial and defense technology
MIL-A-46050C Class 2 approved — qualified for demanding industry applications.
General assembly
Steel, aluminum, Buna-N, neoprene, ABS, PVC, polycarbonate, phenolic resin — very broad substrate spectrum.
Maintenance and repair
Fast component fixing in workshops and service centers.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with acetone or isopropanol. Lightly sand aluminum, copper, and their alloys to remove the oxide layer.
2
Use adhesive sparingly
Apply Permabond 792 only drop by drop to an adhesive surface — the thin layer is crucial for rapid curing.
3
assembling components
Quickly and correctly align the parts. Apply enough pressure so that the adhesive spreads into a thin film.
4
Secure until firmly in place
Do not disturb or realign until handling strength is reached (typically a few seconds to one minute, depending on the substrate). Final strength is reached after 24 hours.
5
Remove adhesive residue
Excess adhesive can be removed with Permabond CA Solvent 2, nitromethane or acetone.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
For porous or difficult surfaces, Permabond CSA activator is recommended. Permabond POP primer is mandatory before bonding PP, PE, PTFE, or silicone. NSF S4 approval applies to non-food applications (no direct food contact).
storage
Store refrigerated at 2 to 7 °C. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening – this prevents condensation and protects the shelf life.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond 792

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond 792 is an ethyl cyanoacrylate instant adhesive with a viscosity of 60–125 mPa·s and a maximum gap filling of 0.15 mm. A universal cyanoacrylate adhesive with MIL and NSF approvals — extremely fast curing.

Permabond 792 reliably bonds steel (18–22 N/mm²), ABS (8 N/mm² (substrate failure)), PVC (>10 N/mm² (substrate failure)), polycarbonate (10 N/mm² (substrate failure)), as well as Buna-N rubber and similar elastomers. For polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is required.

Permabond 792 is approved according to MIL-A-46050C Type II Class 2 (existing designs), CID AA-3097 Type II Class 2 (new designs), NSF Non-food Compounds Category Code S4 (Reg. No 154137) — qualified for demanding industrial applications.

Permabond 792 reaches handling strength on steel in 2–3 seconds. Other typical curing times: 2–3 seconds (Buna N), 2–3 seconds (phenol). The final strength of 18–22 N/mm² (steel) is reached after 24 hours. Temperature, humidity, and substrate affect the curing rate.

Permabond 792 offers a viscosity of 60–125 mPa·s, a gap filling capacity of 0.15 mm, and a shear strength of 18–22 N/mm² on steel. Permabond 791 has a viscosity of 15–50 mPa·s, a gap filling capacity of 0.1 mm, and a shear strength of 18–22 N/mm² on steel (ultra-low viscosity, MIL Class 1). Both utilize an ethyl cyanoacrylate base (or a related cyanoacrylate variant).

Permabond 792 should be stored unopened refrigerated at 2 to 7 °C and is stable until the printed expiration date. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening—this prevents condensation inside, which would reduce its shelf life. Opened bottles remain functional for several months if stored correctly, although the curing rate may decrease over time. We recommend a test bond to check reactivity before critical production applications.

From the Permabond cyanoacrylate range, select according to viscosity and special properties: Permabond 792 (60–125 mPa·s, 0.15 mm gap width, dual certified); Permabond 791 (15–50 mPa·s, 0.1 mm, ultra-low viscosity, MIL Class 1); Permabond 712 (100 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, hot/wet 120 °C); Permabond 801 (10–15 mPa·s, 0.05 mm, high temperature). For polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is always required.
