Frequently asked questions about Initiator 46

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond Initiator 46: No-mix activator for Permabond TA4246 aerospace structural adhesive — Amber, 70 mPa·s, high flash point (>140 °C). Main applications: Aerospace structural bonding, high-performance bonding, aviation OEM.

Permabond TA structural adhesives utilize a no-mix system: initiator is brushed onto one bonding surface, TA adhesive onto the other—they react between the components during joining. No pre-mixing is required, and there is no pot life limit on the mixed compound. On-part life is 30 minutes—components can be joined with the TA adhesive after a delay following initiator application. Ideal for high-throughput structural bonding.

Store in the unopened original container in a dry, cool place — Permabond adhesives typically between +5 and +25 °C, see TDS for exact values. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Observe the expiry date on the packaging. Store cyanoacrylates in a cool place (ideally refrigerated) for maximum shelf life.

The comparison table above lists related Permabond products with different properties—viscosity, mixing ratio, special certification. If you are unsure which product is best, we would be happy to advise you—contact SILITECH with your specific application (substrate pairing, load, curing conditions).
