Product Description

SILISIL Silicone Oil 20 cSt is PDMS for capacitor impregnation, dielectric insulation, and electronic applications.

SILISIL Silicone Oils are high-purity linear polydimethylsiloxane fluids (PDMS) with 100% purity. The viscosity of 20 cSt defines the application spectrum — from lubrication to release agents and hydraulic functions to specialized care and industrial applications.

Standard for dielectric applications

20 cSt is the established viscosity for capacitor impregnation and transformer oil replenishment — good spreadability combined with high dielectric strength and low dissipation factor.

Dissipation factor 10⁻⁵ — minimal dielectric losses in high-frequency applications.
Capacitor impregnation
Classic application in paper-film capacitors with polymer windings.
Stable spreading effect
Distributes evenly in complex geometries.
Thermal stability
Resistant up to +200 °C without loss of properties.
Water repellent
Impregnation protects against moisture over a long period of time.

What is SILISIL Silicone Oil 20 cSt used for?

Capacitor impregnation
Dielectric filling in film and paper capacitors with high dielectric strength.
Transformer auxiliary oil
Special impregnation for dry transformers and high-voltage components.
Electronics potting
Low-viscosity impregnation of coils and winding bodies.
Lubrication of precision parts
Thin but stable lubrication for micromechanics and medical devices.
Hydraulic damping
Low-viscosity damping in servo motors and precision drives.

Important Notes

Storage & Handling
Store in the unopened original container in a dry, cool place (ideally <60 °C). Avoid eye contact. Consult the SDS before opening.
Solvent compatibility
Soluble in aromatic, aliphatic, and chlorinated solvents. Not miscible with water and alcohols.
Release agent effect before painting
Standard PDMS prevents paint adhesion on subsequent coatings. For paintable applications, choose SILISIL Silicone Oil – Paintable Grade.

Frequently Asked Questions about SILISIL Silicone Oil 20 cSt

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

SILISIL Silicone Oil 20 cSt: PDMS for capacitor impregnation, dielectric insulation, and electronic applications. Main applications include capacitor impregnation, transformer auxiliary oil, and electronic potting.

PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) is a linear silicone fluid that combines high thermal stability, low surface tension, very good dielectric properties, and broad temperature resistance. The viscosity (measured in centistokes, cSt) determines the field of application — low viscosities are suitable for volatile applications and lubrication, high viscosities for damping and conditioners.

SILISIL Silicone Oils are soluble in aromatic, aliphatic, and chlorinated solvents (e.g., toluene, xylene, hexane, diesel). They are not miscible with water and alcohols. For anti-foam applications, high-viscosity PDMS is diluted in hydrocarbon solvents and introduced using a dosing pump.

Store in the unopened original container at room temperature (ideally below 60 °C). Avoid eye contact. SILISIL Silicone Oils are generally non-toxic, odorless, and tasteless — nevertheless, consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), which is available in the "Documents" tab.

Viscosity determines the application. 20 cSt is optimal for: capacitor impregnation and similar application profiles. For other application characteristics, you will find related viscosities in the comparison table above — if uncertain, we are happy to advise you on your specific application.
