SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30
SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30
SILISIL ·

SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30 is a room temperature vulcanizing 2-component addition silicone (platinum crosslinking, RTV-2) of the MF-Dura series — the standard solution for precise mold making with fine details, strong undercuts and long mold life.

The low mixing viscosity of 5,000 mPa·s allows the silicone to flow into even the finest structures without air inclusions. A Shore A hardness of 30 makes the mold flexible enough for complex undercuts, while a tensile strength of >5 N/mm² and an elongation at break of 450% ensure hundreds of molds with consistent dimensional accuracy—proven in jewelry, art, and concrete construction.

Key feature

Addition crosslinking (platinum system) with a mixing ratio of 1:1 by weight — low shrinkage, without degradation products, temperature resistant from −40 °C to +200 °C.

What distinguishes SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30

Low mixed viscosity
5,000 mPa·s according to Brookfield — the silicone flows independently into the finest structures and undercuts without air inclusions.
High tensile strength
>5 N/mm² according to ASTM D 412 and tensile strength 15 N/mm — the mold can withstand hundreds of impressions without wear.
Shrinkage-resistant and dimensionally stable
Addition crosslinking without degradation products — the shape is dimensionally stable immediately and permanently, ideal for replicas with tight tolerances.
Detailed down to the microscopic level
An elongation at break of 450% at Shore A 30 allows the demolding of delicate structures without tearing — lettering, textures, and sharp edges are preserved.
Mixing ratio 1:1 by weight
Simple and reproducible mixing, tolerance ±5%. Pot life approx. 50 minutes, demolding time approx. 4 hours at 23°C.
Temperature resistant from -40 to +200 °C
Expanded application range for hot casting processes with wax, low-melting-point metal alloys and concrete heat processes.

What is SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30 used for?

Model and jewelry molding
Reproduction of master models for the jewelry industry, lost-wax casting process, small series art casting.
Concrete and stone molds
Highly compatible with cement formulations — paving stones, facade elements, sculptures, garden architecture.
Resin casting
Molds for polyurethane, epoxy and polyester castings — abrasive materials are molded without leaving grinding marks on the workpiece.
Undercuts and intricate geometries
Shore A 30 + 450% elongation at break allows for the demolding of models with strong undercuts and the finest details.
Restoration and museum technology
Gentle molding of historical originals without mechanical or chemical damage to the workpiece.

processing

1
Prepare the original
The surface to be reproduced must be clean, dry, and dust-free. The ideal processing temperature is 23°C — cooler environments significantly extend the pot life and curing time.
2
homogenize and mix components
Stir the base and catalyst thoroughly before use. Weigh out 1:1 by weight (tolerance ±5%). When mixing, thoroughly incorporate the mixture into the container walls and bottom.
3
Vacuum venting
For non-porous molds, briefly de-aerate the mixture under vacuum — trapped air bubbles are removed and a smooth mold surface is guaranteed.
4
Pour slowly into the mold
Pour in a thin stream from a height of approximately 30 cm into the lowest point — the silicone displaces air on its own and reaches all undercuts.
5
Vulcanizing and demolding
At 23 °C, demolding is possible after approximately 4 hours, with complete curing after 24 hours. A 24-hour "maturation phase" is required before the first casting to ensure maximum strength.

Important instructions

Avoid crosslinking inhibitors
Additive systems like MF-Dura 30 are sensitive to sulfur, amine, tin, and phosphorus compounds—especially latex gloves, modeling clay, adhesive tapes, and some paints. If in doubt, make a small test cast before use.
Storage and shelf life
In its unopened original container, the product has a shelf life of at least 12 months when stored in a dry, cool place (10–25 °C). Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before opening.
Available packaging
1 kg + 1 kg, 5 kg + 5 kg, 25 kg + 25 kg and 200 kg + 200 kg sets are standard. Other package sizes are available upon request.
compatibility
Compatible with polyurethane, epoxy, and polyester casting resins, as well as concrete and plaster formulations. For hot wax applications, do not subject the mold to temperatures exceeding 200 °C.

Frequently asked questions about SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30 is a two-component (Shore A 30) additive silicone for demanding mold making. It is particularly suitable for models with significant undercuts, jewelry reproductions, resin casting, and concrete and stone molds. Its low viscosity of 5,000 mPa·s ensures highly detailed reproduction of even the finest structures.

At 23 °C, the pot life is approximately 50 minutes, the demolding time approximately 4 hours, and full curing is achieved after 24 hours. Lower temperatures significantly extend all three values, while higher temperatures shorten them. For reproducible results, SILITECH recommends processing at controlled room temperature.

As an addition system, MF-Dura 30 is sensitive to crosslinking inhibitors: sulfur, amine, tin, and phosphorus compounds can locally halt vulcanization. Avoid latex gloves, sulfur-containing modeling clays, some adhesive tapes, and PVC plasticizers in the immediate vicinity of the mold. If in doubt, make a small test cast before molding the original model.

SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30 is mixed in a 1:1 ratio by weight (base to catalyst), with a maximum tolerance of ±5%. Homogenize both components separately before mixing, then thoroughly incorporate them – including the container walls and bottom. Brief vacuum degassing of the mixture is recommended for non-porous molds.

SILISIL RTV MF-Dura 30 achieves a Shore A hardness of 30 (ASTM D 2240), a tensile strength >5 N/mm² (ASTM D 412), an elongation at break of approximately 450%, and a tensile strength of 15 N/mm (ASTM D 624). This combination is suitable for serial molding with abrasive casting materials such as polyester or epoxy resin.

For standard mold making with fine details and undercuts, MF-Dura 30 the first choice (Shore A 30, pot life 50 min). MF-Dura 32 offers similar properties with a shorter pot life for series production. MF-Dura 35 is translucent (for visible casting) and slightly harder. MF-Dura 40 offers the highest hardness for heavily stressed series molds.
