SILISIL ·

SILISIL RTV MF-Ultra 50 is a room temperature vulcanizing 2-component addition silicone (platinum crosslinking, RTV-2) of the MF-Mold & Form series — 2K high-strength silicone Shore A 50, orange — precise reproduction with long service life.

The mixture is prepared in a 1:1 ratio by weight (tolerance ±5%). Pot life at 23°C is approximately 15 minutes, demolding is possible after approximately 3 hours, and complete curing takes 24 hours. Temperature resistant from -40°C to +200°C.

Key property

Low viscosity at Shore A 50 — flows precisely into the finest structures despite high final hardness, ideal for highly stressed tool shapes.

What makes SILISIL RTV MF-Ultra 50 stand out

Final hardness Shore A 50
Solid industrial final hardness — economical for medium-sized production runs with consistent shape accuracy.
Low viscosity 5,000 mPa·s
Low mixed viscosity — flows into finest structures without air entrapment, vacuum degassing optional.
Very good long-term stability
Stable over long storage and usage periods — the shape ages in a controlled manner without wear values.
Precise reproduction
High detail reproduction — fonts, structures, and sharp edges are reproduced true to nature.
Mixing ratio 1:1 by weight
Simple 1:1 ratio — hand-mixable without a precision scale, ideal for workshops and hobbyists.
Striking orange mixed color
Striking orange mixed color — easy visual differentiation in everyday workshop life.

What is SILISIL RTV MF-Ultra 50 used for?

Industrial high-performance tool molds
Shore A 50 with low viscosity (5,000 mPa·s) for tool molds that require detail AND mechanical strength.
Master model reproduction in series
Excellent long-term stability of mechanical properties — the shape retains its dimensional accuracy over hundreds of cycles.
Resin and synthetic resin casting in series
Resistant to polyurethane, epoxy and polyester casts — economical mold for small and medium production runs.
High-volume jewelry wax molds
Higher final hardness = more wax castings per mold — an economical choice for goldsmiths with series production.
Concrete and stone industrial molds
Robust for abrasive concrete mixtures — paving stones, stone facades, architectural elements in series production.
Detailed reproduction with long mold lifespan
Excellent long-term stability at Shore A 50 — the shape retains dimensional accuracy and detail sharpness over hundreds of cycles.

Processing

1
Prepare the original
The surface to be reproduced must be clean, dry, and free of dust. The ideal processing temperature is 23 °C — cooler environments significantly extend pot life and curing time.
2
Homogenize and mix components
Stir base and catalyst thoroughly before use. Weigh out 1:1 by weight (tolerance ±5%). When mixing, thoroughly incorporate the walls and bottom of the container.
3
Vacuum degassing
For pore-free molds, briefly degas the mixture under vacuum — entrapped air bubbles are removed, ensuring a smooth mold surface.
4
Pour slowly into the mold
Pour from a height of approx. 30 cm in a thin stream into the deepest point — the silicone displaces air independently and reaches all undercuts.
5
Vulcanize and demold
At 23 °C, demolding is possible after approx. 3 hours, complete curing after 24 hours. Before the first pour, allow a 24 h "maturation phase" for maximum strength.

Important Notes

Avoid crosslinking inhibitors
Additive systems like MF-Ultra 50 are sensitive to sulfur, amine, tin, and phosphorus compounds—especially latex gloves, modeling clay, adhesive tapes, and some paints. If in doubt, make a small test cast before use.
Storage and Shelf Life
Shelf life of at least 12 months in unopened original container when stored in a dry, cool place (10–25 °C). Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before opening.
Available containers
1 kg + 1 kg, 5 kg + 5 kg. Other container sizes available on request.
Compatibility
Compatible with polyurethane, epoxy, and polyester casting resins. For aggressive resins, apply a release agent to protect the mold.

Frequently asked questions about SILISIL RTV MF-Ultra 50

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

SILISIL RTV MF-Ultra 50 is a two-component (Shore A 50, orange) additive silicone for high-performance industrial tooling and related applications. Two-component high-strength silicone, Shore A 50, orange – precise reproduction with a long service life

At 23 °C, the pot life is approximately 15 minutes and the demolding time approximately 3 hours. Complete curing is achieved after 24 hours. Lower temperatures extend, higher temperatures shorten these times.

As an addition system, SILISIL RTV MF-Ultra 50 is sensitive to crosslinking inhibitors: sulfur, amine, tin, and phosphorus compounds can locally halt vulcanization. Avoid latex gloves, sulfur-containing modeling clays, some adhesive tapes, and PVC plasticizers in the immediate vicinity of the mold. If in doubt, make a small test cast.

SILISIL RTV MF-Ultra 50 is mixed in a 1:1 ratio by weight (base to catalyst), with a maximum tolerance of ±5%. Homogenize both components separately before mixing, then thoroughly incorporate them – including the container walls and bottom. Brief vacuum degassing of the mixture is recommended for non-porous molds.

SILISIL RTV MF-Ultra 50 achieves a Shore A hardness of 50 (ASTM D 2240), a tensile strength of 3.6 N/mm² (ASTM D 412), an elongation at break of approximately 150% and a tensile strength of 5 N/mm (ASTM D 624).
