BLUESIL RTV 3132 B
Bluesil Elkem Silicones SKU 40-3132B

Bluesil RTV 3132 A & B is a high-purity 2K-Pt silicone rubber specifically for pad printing pads — antistatic, with excellent mechanical strength and solvent resistance.

This product line comprises 2K polyaddition silicone elastomers specifically designed for pad printing — high-purity, antistatic, with excellent solvent resistance for extended pad life. RTV 3132 is tailored to specific industrial applications — the key properties and areas of application are listed below.

Antistatic — especially for pad printing

Bluesil RTV 3132 is the only product in the RTV-3130 series with an antistatic finish — preventing dust from being attracted to the pad surface and resulting in significantly more even ink transfer during pad printing. High solvent resistance ensures a long pad lifespan.

What makes the RTV 3132 stand out

Antistatic
Prevents dust from accumulating on the pad surface — resulting in consistent print quality across the entire series.
High-purity product
Specifically formulated for pad printing pads — no impurities that interfere with the print image.
Excellent solvent resistance
Withstands aggressive pad printing inks and solvents without swelling.
High tensile strength (20 kN/m)
Long tampon lifespan even under intense pressure.
Bluish tint
Bluesil RTV 3132 B blue — visual control of the tampon geometry.
Adjustable firmness
Hardness can be adjusted to pressure requirements by dilution with silicone oil.

What is the RTV 3132 used for?

Pad printing pads (pad printing)
Production of printing pads for industrial pad printing.
Multicolor pad printing
Antistatic properties prevent color confusion caused by dust attraction.
Industrial printing
Printing on plastic components in automotive, electronics, and advertising.
Promotional item printing
Multicolor printing on pens, plastic objects, and device housings.
Multi-component components
Printing of complexly shaped components with a high level of detail.
Combining different hardness levels
Multi-layered tampon construction with different Shore hardnesses is possible.

processing

1
Prepare pad mold
Precise and clean negative form — attention to detail is critical for print quality.
2
Mix A & B
10:1 by weight. Pot life 15 min — machine + static mixer recommended.
3
Degassing before processing
Degas both components separately — air entrapment would impair print quality.
4
Pour into the pad mold
Slowly from the deepest point. Hardness adjustable via dilution with Bluesil 47V50.
5
Network
24 h at 23 °C — antistatic properties (RTV 3132) prevent dust from accumulating on the pad surface.

Important instructions

Mixing & Dosage
Stir A and B thoroughly before each use. Use precise dosage in the specified ratio (see table above) — ideally by weight. Incorrect dosage will result in incomplete cross-linking.
Degassing
Degas the mixture under a vacuum of 30–50 mbar. The material expands 3–4 times, then contracts back to its original size after 5–10 minutes. Interrupt the vacuum several times for better degassing.
Avoid inhibitors
Polyaddition silicones are inhibited by: sulfur-vulcanized rubber, tin-catalyzed RTV, amine epoxides, and PVC with tin salts. If in doubt, conduct a preliminary test.

Frequently asked questions about RTV 3132

Practical questions regarding processing and design — answered by SILITECH.

Bluesil RTV 3132 A & B: High-purity 2K-Pt silicone rubber specifically for pad printing — antistatic, with excellent mechanical strength and solvent resistance. Main applications include pad printing, multicolor pad printing, and industrial printing.

Polyaddition crosslinking is a two-component silicone chemistry using a platinum catalyst. Component A contains the platinum complex, and component B contains the SiH crosslinker. When mixed, the components crosslink without releasing reaction byproducts—no shrinkage due to outgassing, excellent dimensional accuracy, and low linear shrinkage. Important: Polyaddition silicones are inhibited by various substances—sulfur-vulcanized natural rubbers, tin-catalyzed RTV silicones, amine-catalyzed epoxy resins, and tin-stabilized PVC. In case of doubt, a preliminary test should be carried out.

Thoroughly stir components A and B before each processing step. Measure precisely according to the mixing ratio specified in the TDS (see comparison table above) – ideally by weight. Mix with an electric or pneumatic agitator at low speed (minimize air entrainment). Degas the mixture under vacuum (30–50 mbar) – the material will expand 3–4 times its original volume, bubbles will escape, and the material will settle back after 5–10 minutes. Then slowly pour into the mold from the lowest point to avoid air entrapment. For polyaddition systems, avoid contact with inhibitors (sulfur-based rubber, tin-based RTV, amine epoxides, PVC with tin salts).

Store in the unopened original container in a dry, cool place — typically between +5 and +30 °C, see TDS for exact values. Store components A and B separately; seal airtight after opening. Polyaddition systems are insensitive to moisture, but should be stored in a cool place to maintain pot life. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.

The comparison table above lists related RTV products with different hardnesses, pot lives, or application profiles. If you are unsure which product is best for you, we would be happy to advise you — contact SILITECH with details of your application (substrate, desired hardness, processing time, mechanical requirements, and durability).
