Permabond 825 is the premium high-temperature cyanoacrylate adhesive of the 800 series — developed for continuous use at up to 180 °C and also bondable to HDPE and LDPE without the need for a polyolefin primer.

With 100–150 mPa·s, 825 is medium-viscosity. What distinguishes 825 from the other high-temperature variants is its excellent resistance to thermal aging: after 1,000 hours at 180 °C, approximately 75% of the initial strength is retained — values that 801 / 802 / 820 do not achieve.

On steel, 825 provides 15–20 N/mm² shear strength, and up to 22 N/mm² on stainless steel. Cure times are particularly short on NBR and phenolic resin, at 5–10 seconds. Exceptional for a cyanoacrylate: 825 also bonds HDPE (10–20 seconds hand strength) and LDPE (40–60 seconds) without a polyolefin primer — albeit with reduced strength compared to standard substrates.

SPECIAL FEATURE

Highest heat resistance of the Permabond standard CA series — after 1,000 hours of thermal aging at 180 °C, approximately 75% of the initial strength remains. Additionally, it can bond HDPE and LDPE — a rare property for cyanoacrylates.

Processing

Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with acetone or isopropanol. Lightly sand aluminum, copper, and their alloys to remove the oxide layer.

Apply adhesive sparingly
Apply Permabond 825 dropwise to one adhesive surface — the thin layer thickness is crucial for rapid curing.

Joining components
Assemble quickly and align correctly. Apply sufficient pressure so that the adhesive spreads into a thin film.

Fixing until hand-tight
Do not disturb or realign until hand strength is achieved (typically a few seconds to one minute, depending on the substrate). Final strength after 24 hours.

Remove adhesive residue
Excess adhesive can be removed with Permabond CA Solvent 2, nitromethane, or acetone.

Not suitable for / Important notes
For porous or difficult surfaces, Permabond CSA-Activator is recommended. The direct bondability to HDPE/LDPE is a special feature — for PP, PTFE, and silicone, Permabond POP-Primer is still required.
Storage
Store refrigerated at 2 to 7 °C. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening — prevents condensation and protects shelf life.

Permabond 825 is an ethyl cyanoacrylate instant adhesive with a viscosity of 100–150 mPa·s and a maximum gap fill of 0.15 mm. Premium high-temperature cyanoacrylate adhesive up to 180 °C — also for HDPE and LDPE.

Permabond 825 reliably bonds steel (15–20 N/mm²), aluminum (12–16 N/mm²), ABS (>6 N/mm² (substrate failure)), PVC (>5 N/mm² (substrate failure)), polycarbonate (>5 N/mm² (substrate failure)), as well as Buna-N rubber and similar elastomers. For polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is required.

Highest heat resistance of the Permabond standard CA series — after 1,000 hours of thermal aging at 180 °C, approximately 75% of the initial strength remains. Additionally bondable to HDPE and LDPE — a rare property for cyanoacrylates.

Permabond 825 achieves hand strength on steel in 10–20 s. Other typical curing times: 5–10 s (NBR), 5–10 s (phenolic), 10–20 s (HDPE), 40–60 s (LDPE). The final strength of 15–20 N/mm² (steel) is reached after 24 hours. Temperature, humidity, and substrate affect the curing speed.

Permabond 825 offers 100–150 mPa·s viscosity, 0.15 mm gap filling, and 15–20 N/mm² shear strength on steel. Permabond 801 has 10–15 mPa·s viscosity, 0.05 mm gap filling, and 19–23 N/mm² on steel (ultra-low, wicking). Both use the ethyl cyanoacrylate base (or a related cyanoacrylate variant).

Permabond 825 is stored unopened under refrigeration at 2 to 7 °C and remains stable until the printed expiration date. Before opening, allow the bottle to warm to room temperature — this prevents condensation inside, which would reduce shelf life. Opened bottles remain functional for several months when stored correctly; however, the curing speed may decrease over time. Before important production applications, we recommend a test bonding to check reactivity.

From the Permabond cyanoacrylate series, choose according to viscosity and special properties: Permabond 825 (100–150 mPa·s, 0.15 mm gap fill, thermally aging resistant); Permabond 801 (10–15 mPa·s, 0.05 mm, ultra-low, wicking); Permabond 802 (90–110 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, medium viscosity, standard); Permabond 820 (100 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, high temperature + biocompatible). For polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is always required.
