Permabond A1058 is a high-viscosity, anaerobic thread sealant in paste form — developed for coarse metallic pipe threads with the highest pressure tightness requirements. The bonding process allows for alignment of the components during curing.

With a compressive strength of 300,000 mPa·s, A1058 is almost like putty—it doesn't drip, doesn't run, and stays precisely where it's applied. This consistency allows components to be aligned even while it's curing—important for long pipelines with defined connection positions.

The thread seal withstands pressures up to the pipe's burst point and is therefore suitable for high-pressure applications. The WRAS approval qualifies A1058 for drinking water systems—for example, in drinking water and distribution networks.

SPECIAL FEATURE

Pressure-tight up to the burst strength of the pipeline — the high-viscosity paste with 300,000 mPa·s completely and securely fills coarse pipe threads. Allows for alignment of components during curing. WRAS approved for drinking water.

Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with Permabond Cleaner A or a solvent (acetone, isopropanol). Rough surfaces (~25 µm) result in higher bond strength than polished surfaces.

Apply adhesive
Apply Permabond A1058 directly from the bottle — for through holes, apply a stripe along the thread length; for blind holes, apply a few drops to the bottom. Do not touch the tip to metal surfaces (this will cause premature hardening in the bottle).

Insert the screws and tighten them to the required torque. For shaft-hub fits, assemble the components before the adhesive begins to cure.

Allow to harden
Anaerobic curing begins in the absence of air and in contact with metal. Handling strength is typically achieved after 15 minutes, functional strength after 1 hour, and full strength after 24 hours at 23 °C.

Accelerate curing (optional)
Permabond A905 activator can be used on inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum) or at low temperatures — applied to one adhesive surface, allowed to evaporate, then adhesive applied to the other side.

Suitable only for metallic pipe threads (curing requires exclusion of air and metal contact). Not for contact with oxygen or vapor. For inactive surfaces (zinc, stainless steel), use A905 activator.

Store at 5 to 25 °C. Anaerobic adhesives lose their reactivity upon contact with metal — do not touch the tip of the bottle to metal surfaces, do not pour the adhesive back into the bottle.

Permabond A1058 is an anaerobic acrylic sealant with a viscosity of 300,000 mPa·s (paste) and a gap-filling capacity of up to 0.5 mm. This high-viscosity paste thread sealant fills coarse pipe threads and is pressure-tight up to the burst point. Anaerobic adhesives cure in the absence of air and in contact with metal—ideal for tight-tolerance metallic joints.

Anaerobic adhesives like Permabond A1058 remain liquid in the bottle (due to contact with air and oxygen) and only begin to harden after bonding under anaerobic conditions and metal-to-metal contact. Curing starts at the metal surface and progresses into the bond gap. The product cures quickly on steel and copper; on stainless steel and zinc, the Permabond A905 activator may be beneficial.

Difficult to remove — Permabond A1058 is high-strength (8 N·m breakaway torque). Disassembly typically requires heating the bond to 200 °C or more. Designed for permanent bonding.

Permabond A1058 is approved according to WRAS drinking water regulations . These certifications qualify the product for the specified applications — such as direct contact with drinking water in the case of WRAS and KTW approvals.

Permabond A1058 typically reaches handling strength after 15 minutes and functional strength after 1 hour at 23 °C on M10 steel. Final strength is reached after 24 hours. On inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc) or at low temperatures, the curing time is extended—Permabond A905 activator accelerates the process.

Permabond A1058 is a high-viscosity thread sealant (300,000 mPa·s (paste) viscosity, 0.5 mm gap filling, 8 N·m breakaway torque). Permabond A129 is a medium-strength gel (gel, 0.5 mm, 12 N·m breakaway torque) — lower viscosity, medium strength. Both belong to the anaerobic Permabond A series.

The choice depends on the application: Permabond A1058 (high-viscosity thread sealant); Permabond A129 (medium-strength gel); Permabond A1044 (fast-curing); Permabond A118 (high-strength threadlocker). For inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum), Permabond A905 activator be used to accelerate curing.
