PERMABOND ET5145
PERMABOND ET5145
Permabond · Permabond Engineering Adhesives Ltd ·

Permabond ET5145 is a food-approved 2K epoxy with an ivory-colored cure — the choice when aesthetic requirements are also necessary in addition to food contact.

Unlike the black and white variant ET5143, ET5145 has an ivory-colored cure – visible adhesive seams remain visually discreet. With a steel tensile strength of 19–21 N/mm², the product falls within the high-strength range of food-grade epoxies.

FOOD + OPTICS

EU 10/2011 approved 2-component epoxy with ivory-colored curing — combines direct food contact with an aesthetically pleasing bond line. For visible bonding in food processing facilities with high design standards.

Processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with Permabond Cleaner A or a solvent (acetone, isopropanol). Lightly sand aluminum and copper to remove oxide layers.
2
Mix components A + B
For twin cartridges: attach mixing nozzle, press evenly (1:1 by volume mixing ratio). For larger containers: weigh resin and hardener in the correct ratio and mix thoroughly until no streaks are visible. Avoid air entrapment.
3
Apply adhesive + join components
Apply the mixed adhesive to one bonding surface within the pot life (—). Join the components with sufficient pressure to distribute the adhesive over the entire bonding surface.
4
Fix components during curing
Use a clamping device or clamp to ensure the components do not move during curing. Wait for handling strength and functional strength according to the TDS.
5
Full cure at room temperature
Final strength is typically achieved after 24 hours at 23 °C. Increasing the temperature by 8 °C halves the curing time; lower temperatures slow down the process. If necessary, optionally post-cure at 60–80 °C for maximum strength.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond ET5145

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Food-grade, ivory-colored two-component epoxy resin for aesthetically pleasing food bonding. The two-component epoxy is mixed in a 1:1 volume ratio and offers a pot life of —.

Mix both components in a 1:1 ratio by volume — using the mixing nozzle for dual cartridges, weigh precisely for larger containers. Apply within the pot life (—) and join components. Full curing typically occurs after — at room temperature.

The pot life of Permabond ET5145 is typically — at 23 °C. Higher temperatures shorten, lower temperatures lengthen the pot life. Mixing quantities above approximately 100 g may gel more quickly due to an exothermic reaction.

Permabond ET5145 bonds reliably to steel: 19–21 N/mm². For thermoplastic substrates, test compatibility before series production.

Permabond ET5145 is approved according to EU 10/2011 for food contact. Compliance letters and detailed certificates are available from Permabond/SILITECH.

Permabond ET5145 is a food-grade, two-component epoxy resin in ivory (1:1 volume mix, pot life). Permabond ET5143 is a food-grade black/white epoxy resin (1:1 mix, pot life) in a different color.

From the Permabond 2K epoxy range, select according to application, mixing ratio, and strength requirements: Permabond ET5145 (Food-approved 2K epoxy – ivory); Permabond ET5143 (Food Black/White); Permabond ET5162 (Food Low Strength); Permabond ET5147 (Food Cream). For aerospace, see ET515 (Aircraft Seat Trays); for food, ET5162 (EU 10/2011 + FDA); for thermal conductivity/fire protection, ET5441 (UL94-V0).
