Calsil RTV PC 55 + CAT N5 TRANS
High-hardness 2K-RTV silicone.
High-hardness (Shore A 55) 2K-RTV silicone (Sn polycondensation) — the hardener-resistant choice for demanding mold tools with high dimensional stability
Calsil RTV PC 55 is a high-hardness (Shore A 55) 2K-RTV silicone (Sn-polycondensation) — the hardener-resistant choice for demanding mold tools with high dimensional stability.
This product line comprises 2K polycondensation silicone elastomers (tin-catalyzed) for mold making — established, economical industrial chemistry with good substrate compatibility, especially for lost wax, decoration, and construction. Calsil PC 55 is tailored to specific industrial applications — the key properties and areas of use are listed below.
Calsil RTV PC 55 is the high-hardness variant of the Calsil-PC series — Shore A 55 for particularly stable mold tools in industrial reproduction and technical mold making. Detailed mechanical values available on request via SILITECH.

Frequently Asked Questions about Calsil PC 55
Practical processing and design questions — answered by SILITECH.
Calsil RTV PC 55: Very hard (Shore A 55) 2K-RTV silicone (Sn polycondensation) — the hardener-resistant choice for demanding mold tools with high stability. Main applications are highly stressed mold tools, technical components, shoe soles, and similar applications.
Polycondensation curing is a 2-component silicone chemistry with a tin catalyst. When mixed, the components crosslink, releasing alcohol as a byproduct — this can lead to low linear shrinkage (typically <0.7 %). Advantage: Polycondensation silicones are less sensitive to inhibitors than polyaddition systems — they also crosslink in contact with sulfur-vulcanized rubber and are tolerant of many substrates. Established, economical industrial standard for lost wax casting, decorative reproduction, and construction.
Thoroughly stir components A and B before each processing step. Dose precisely according to the mixing ratio specified in the TDS (see comparison table above) — preferably by weight. Mix with an electric or pneumatic stirrer at low speed (minimize air entrainment). Degas the mixture under vacuum (30–50 mbar) — the material expands to 3–4 times its volume, bubbles escape, and the material settles back after 5–10 minutes. Then pour slowly into the mold from the lowest point to avoid air entrapment. For polyaddition systems, avoid contact with inhibitors (sulfur rubber, tin RTV, amine epoxides, PVC with tin salts).
Store in unopened original container in a dry, cool place — typically between +5 and +30 °C, exact values see TDS. Store components A and B separately; after opening, seal airtight. Polyaddition systems are insensitive to moisture, but should be stored cool to preserve pot life. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.
In the comparison table above, you will find related RTV products with different hardnesses, pot lives, or application profiles. If you are unsure about the optimal choice, we will be happy to advise you — contact SILITECH with your application (substrate, desired hardness, processing time, requirements for mechanical properties and resistance).
