Permabond 105 is a one-component, low-viscosity cyanoacrylate adhesive with exceptionally high purity — the special choice for demanding rubber and plastic bonding applications where blooming or discoloration is undesirable.

With a viscosity of 30–50 mPa·s, Permabond 105 fills gaps up to 0.1 mm and develops a particularly clean, almost blooming-free adhesive seam — ideal for visible components, in electronics or in optically sensitive applications where the typical white haze around the adhesive joint is bothersome.

One strength: Permabond 105 reliably bonds natural rubber, EPDM and butyl rubber — elastomers that standard cyanoacrylates often fail to bond to.

PERMIT

What distinguishes Permabond 105

High purity, blooming-free
Clean adhesive seam without a white haze around the adhesive point — perfect for visible components and optically sensitive applications.
Natural rubber, EPDM and butyl
Bonds elastomers where standard cyanoacrylates fail — the first choice for demanding rubber bonding applications.
Plastics that are difficult to bond
It works where many cyanoacrylates have problems — the high purity of the formulation improves adhesion.
MIL-A-46050C Type II Class 1
Qualified for industrial, aerospace and defense applications.
Low viscosity for good gap penetration
30–50 mPa·s reliably fill gaps up to 0.1 mm without capillary flow.
Electronics compatible
Excellent dielectric properties and high dielectric strength for insulating applications.

What is Permabond 105 used for?

Rubber bonding (NR, EPDM, Butyl)
Natural rubber, EPDM, butyl rubber and Buna-N — elastomers with demanding bonding requirements.
Visible components and optics
Eyeglass repair, jewelry, model making, optical components — the blooming-free seam remains inconspicuous.
Plastics that are difficult to bond
Where standard cyanoacrylates fail — the high purity improves adhesion.
Electronics manufacturing
Component fixing in visible areas, coil connection, cable fixing — no disturbing deposits around the adhesive point.
All-purpose with high purity requirements
Standard cyanoacrylate applications where visual or electrical purity is important.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with acetone or isopropanol. Lightly sand aluminum, copper, and their alloys to remove the oxide layer.
2
Dispensing adhesive
Apply Permabond 105 sparingly to the bonding surface. Its low viscosity allows the product to spread within the gap on its own, without excessive running.
3
assembling components
Quickly and correctly align the parts. Apply enough pressure so that the adhesive spreads into a thin film.
4
Secure until firmly in place
Do not disturb or realign until handling strength is reached (10–15 s on steel, 5–10 s on rubber and phenol). Final strength after 24 hours.
5
Remove adhesive residue
Excess adhesive can be removed with Permabond CA Solvent, nitromethane or acetone.

Important instructions

Not suitable for
Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents or polar solvents (brief solvent washing is harmless). Pretreatment with Permabond POP primer is mandatory for PP, PE, PTFE, and silicone.
storage
Store refrigerated at 2 to 7 °C. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening – this prevents condensation and protects the shelf life.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond 105

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond 105 is a low-viscosity ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive (30–50 mPa·s) with exceptionally high purity. It is ideal for demanding rubber bonding applications (natural rubber, EPDM, butyl, Buna-N), difficult-to-bond plastics, and visible components where the typical blooming (white haze) around standard cyanoacrylate joints is undesirable. Maximum gap filling is 0.1 mm, and it reaches handling strength on steel in 10–15 seconds.

Permabond 105 is the specialist choice for demanding elastomers: natural rubber, EPDM, butyl rubber, Buna-N, and NBR. It reliably bonds steel (18–22 N/mm²), aluminum, zinc, ABS, PVC, phenolic resins, and difficult-to-bond plastics. For polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is required.

Blooming refers to the whitish haze or coating that forms around the bond line with standard cyanoacrylate adhesives—caused by evaporating monomer that condenses on adjacent surfaces. Permabond 105 has a particularly pure formulation with a significantly reduced blooming effect—the area around the bond remains clean in visible components, optical applications, and electronics.

Permabond 105 is approved according to MIL-A-46050C Type II Class 1 for existing designs — the internationally established specification for high-performance cyanoacrylate industrial adhesives. This qualifies Permabond 105 for demanding industrial, aerospace, and defense applications.

Permabond 105 has a lower viscosity (30–50 mPa·s) than Permabond 102 (70–90 mPa·s) and is exceptionally pure—almost bloom-free. Permabond 105 is the specialist choice for demanding rubber bonding applications (NR, EPDM, butyl) and visible components. Permabond 102, on the other hand, is the all-rounder for standard bonding tasks with larger gaps (up to 0.15 mm) and substrate failure on ABS, PVC, and polycarbonate.

Permabond 105 should be stored unopened in a refrigerated location between 2 and 7 °C and is stable until the printed expiration date. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening – this prevents condensation inside, which would reduce its shelf life. Opened bottles remain functional for several months if stored correctly, although the curing rate may decrease over time.

For demanding rubber bonding applications (NR, EPDM, butyl) and visible components with high cleanliness requirements, choose Permabond 105. For micro-gap and wicking applications, Permabond 101 is the right choice (2–3 mPa·s, max. 0.05 mm). For general bonding with larger gaps and substrate failure on ABS/PVC/PC, Permabond 102 is recommended . Universal applications with the highest steel strength are covered by Permabond 910. For polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond POP Primer is always required.
