Permabond · Permabond Engineering Adhesives Ltd · SKU 49-246.FL

Permabond 737MM is a black pigmented, high-viscosity cyanoacrylate paste — designed for bonding gaps up to 0.5 mm, vertical applications and impact/peel-loaded joints where liquid superglues would fail.

With a viscosity of 2,000 to 4,000 mPa·s, 737MM is a true adhesive paste—it doesn't run, stays precisely where it's applied, and reliably fills gaps up to 0.5 mm. This property makes 737MM the first choice for applications with large tolerances, vertical adhesive joints, or overhead applications.

The toughened chemistry provides impact resistance of 5–10 kJ/m² and peel strength of 40–60 N/25 mm—values that a conventional cyanoacrylate adhesive product cannot achieve. On steel, it achieves a shear strength of 19–23 N/mm² and a tensile strength (ISO 6922) of 25 N/mm². The black pigmentation makes 737MM visually unobtrusive on dark substrates.

SPECIAL FEATURE

Highly viscous, black pigmented paste with 0.5 mm gap filling capacity — fills gaps too large for standard cyanoacrylates and remains firmly in place even in vertical bonding applications due to its toughness. Elastically toughened for impact and peel stress.

What distinguishes Permabond 737MM

0.5 mm gap filling
Six times more than a standard CA — fills rough tolerances without pre-machining.
High-viscosity paste
2,000–4,000 mPa·s — does not leak, stationary in vertical and overhead bonding applications.
Toughened
Impact resistance 5–10 kJ/m² and peel resistance 40–60 N/25 mm — impact and peel resistant.
black pigmented
Visually inconspicuous on dark surfaces, rubber components and black plastics.
Substrate failure in ABS, PVC, PC
For ABS, the bond strength starts at 8 N/mm² — stronger than the plastic substrate itself.
Increased thermal conductivity
0.2 W/(m·K) — twice as high as most cyanoacrylates.

What is Permabond 737MM used for?

Vertical adhesive seams
Adhesive paste does not run — safe application to lateral or upright adhesive surfaces.
Coarse tolerances / gap filling up to 0.5 mm
When component pairings do not exhibit a standard CA-typical microgap dimension.
Bonds subjected to shock and vibration
Mechanical and vehicle engineering with dynamic loads.
Visible adhesive bonds on dark surfaces
Black pigmentation makes adhesive seams disappear in rubber or plastic components.
Repair and maintenance operations
Paste consistency allows for selective application and controlled gap filling.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with acetone or isopropanol. Lightly sand aluminum, copper, and their alloys to remove the oxide layer.
2
Use adhesive sparingly
Apply Permabond 737MM only drop by drop to a bonding surface — the thin layer is crucial for rapid curing.
3
assembling components
Quickly and correctly align the parts. Apply enough pressure so that the adhesive spreads into a thin film.
4
Secure until firmly in place
Do not disturb or realign until handling strength is reached (typically a few seconds to one minute, depending on the substrate). Final strength is reached after 24 hours.
5
Remove adhesive residue
Excess adhesive can be removed with Permabond CA Solvent 2, nitromethane or acetone.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
Shake the bottle briefly before use. Permabond CSA activator is recommended for porous or difficult surfaces. Permabond POP primer is mandatory before bonding PP, PE, PTFE, or silicone.
storage
Store refrigerated at 2 to 7 °C. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening – this prevents condensation and protects the shelf life.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond 737MM

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond 737MM is an ethyl cyanoacrylate (toughened) instant adhesive with a viscosity of 2,000–4,000 mPa·s (paste) and a maximum gap filling capacity of 0.5 mm. Black, high-viscosity CA paste — fills gaps up to 0.5 mm, toughened.

Permabond 737MM reliably bonds steel (19–23 N/mm²), aluminum (13–15 N/mm²), ABS (>8 N/mm² (substrate failure)), PVC (>6 N/mm² (substrate failure)), polycarbonate (>5 N/mm² (substrate failure)), as well as Buna-N rubber and similar elastomers. For polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is required.

Highly viscous, black pigmented paste with 0.5 mm gap filling capacity — fills gaps too large for standard cyanoacrylates and remains firmly in place even in vertical bonding applications due to its toughness. Elastically toughened for impact and peel stress.

Permabond 737MM reaches handling strength on steel in 15–20 s. Other typical curing times: 30–35 s (aluminum), 10–15 s (Buna N), 5–10 s (phenol). The final strength of 19–23 N/mm² (steel) is reached after 24 hours. Temperature, humidity, and substrate affect the curing rate.

Permabond 737MM offers a viscosity of 2,000–4,000 mPa·s (paste), 0.5 mm gap filling, and 19–23 N/mm² shear strength on steel. Permabond 731 Clear has a viscosity of 150 mPa·s, 0.15 mm gap filling, and 24–30 N/mm² shear strength on steel (low viscosity, colorless). Both utilize an ethyl cyanoacrylate (toughened) base (or a related cyanoacrylate variant).

Permabond 737MM should be stored unopened refrigerated at 2 to 7 °C and is stable until the printed expiration date. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening—this prevents condensation inside, which would reduce its shelf life. Opened bottles remain functional for several months if stored correctly, although the curing rate may decrease over time. We recommend a test bond to check reactivity before critical production applications.

From the Permabond cyanoacrylate range, select according to viscosity and special properties: Permabond 737MM (2,000–4,000 mPa·s (paste), 0.5 mm gap width, gap filling); Permabond 731 Clear (150 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, low viscosity, colorless); Permabond 735 (100–200 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, medium viscosity, black); Permabond 792 (60–125 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, standard colorless). For polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is always required.
