Permabond A025 is a high-strength, high-temperature resistant anaerobic threadlocker with WRAS drinking water approval — designed for permanent bolted connections in hot or chemically exposed environments.

With a viscosity of 750 mPa·s and a gap filling capacity of 0.2 mm, A025 also covers coarse tolerances. The orange color indicates the high-strength classification — disassembly usually requires heating the joint.

The outstanding temperature resistance sets A025 apart from standard threadlockers: While ordinary anaerobic threadlockers lose strength at around 150 °C, A025 lasts significantly longer. Its excellent chemical resistance qualifies the product for use in systems containing solvents, oils, and aggressive media. It also holds WRAS approval for contact with drinking water.

SPECIAL FEATURE

High-temperature resistance + WRAS drinking water approval — the rare combination of a high-strength threadlocker with extended temperature reserve and drinking water approval. Excellent chemical resistance for demanding industrial environments.

What distinguishes Permabond A025

High temperature resistant
Maintains strength at significantly higher temperatures than standard Threadlocker.
Excellent chemical resistance
Tolerant of solvents, oils and aggressive media.
High Feast
23 N·m torque — permanent, highly vibration-resistant connection.
WRAS approved for drinking water
Direct contact with drinking water is permitted.
coarser gap filling
0.2 mm — also suitable for threads with larger tolerances.
UV fluorescence
Curing can be checked using UV light.

What is Permabond A025 used for?

Hot machine components
Screw connections on pumps, combustion engines, heating appliances.
chemical plants
Screw connections in containers, pipelines with solvent or oil contact.
Drinking water systems with high levels of pollution
When high temperature resistance is required in addition to WRAS.
permanent bonds
Screws that no longer need to be loosened — protection against vibration and heat.
Industrial assembly demanding
When standard threadlockers fail due to chemical or thermal stresses.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with Permabond Cleaner A or a solvent (acetone, isopropanol). Rough surfaces (~25 µm) result in higher bond strength than polished surfaces.
2
Apply adhesive
Apply Permabond A025 directly from the bottle — for through holes, apply a stripe along the thread length; for blind holes, apply a few drops to the bottom. Do not touch the nozzle to metal surfaces (this will cause premature hardening in the bottle).
3
assembling components
Insert the screws and tighten them to the required torque. For shaft-hub fits, assemble the components before the adhesive begins to cure.
4
Allow to harden
Anaerobic curing begins in the absence of air and in contact with metal. Handling strength is typically achieved after 15 minutes, functional strength after 1 hour, and full strength after 24 hours at 23 °C.
5
Accelerate curing (optional)
Permabond A905 activator can be used on inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum) or at low temperatures — applied to one adhesive surface, allowed to evaporate, then adhesive applied to the other side.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
Disassembly typically requires heating the connection to 200 °C. Not suitable for contact with oxygen. Some thermoplastics may be affected.
storage
Store at 5 to 25 °C. Anaerobic adhesives lose their reactivity upon contact with metal — do not touch the tip of the bottle to metal surfaces, do not pour the adhesive back into the bottle.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond A025

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond A025 is a single-component (anaerobic) acrylic adhesive with a viscosity of 750 mPa·s and a gap-filling capacity of up to 0.2 mm. It is a high-strength, high-temperature threadlocker approved for use in drinking water environments up to 200 °C. Anaerobic adhesives cure in the absence of air and in contact with metal – ideal for tight-tolerance metallic joints.

Anaerobic adhesives like Permabond A025 remain liquid in the bottle (due to contact with air and oxygen) and only begin to harden after bonding under anaerobic conditions and metal-to-metal contact. Curing starts at the metal surface and progresses into the bond gap. The product cures quickly on steel and copper; on stainless steel and zinc, the Permabond A905 activator may be beneficial.

Difficult to remove — Permabond A025 is high-strength (13 N·m breakaway torque). Disassembly typically requires heating the bond to 200 °C or more. Designed for permanent bonding.

Permabond A025 is approved according to WRAS drinking water regulations . These certifications qualify the product for the specified applications — such as direct contact with drinking water in the case of WRAS and KTW approvals.

Permabond A025 typically achieves handling strength after 15 minutes and functional strength after 1 hour at 23 °C on M10 steel. Final strength is reached after 24 hours. On inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc) or at low temperatures, the curing time is extended—Permabond A905 activator accelerates the process.

Permabond A025 is a high-strength, high-temperature threadlocker (750 mPa·s viscosity, 0.2 mm gap filling, 13 N·m breakaway torque). Permabond A130 is a medium-strength WRAS (1,800 mPa·s, 0.12 mm gap filling, 12 N·m breakaway torque) — medium-strength, WRAS+KTW. Both belong to the anaerobic Permabond A series.

The choice depends on the application: Permabond A025 (high-strength, high-temperature threadlocker); Permabond A130 (medium-strength WRAS); Permabond A134 (high-strength standard); Permabond A118 (high-strength universal). For inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum), Permabond A905 activator be used to accelerate curing.
