PERMABOND ET5422
Permabond Permabond Engineering Adhesives Ltd SKU 49-5422.KT.G050

Permabond ET5422 is a premium 2K epoxy with top shear strength on carbon fiber composites — the choice for the most demanding CFRP structural bonding applications in sporting goods, vehicle and mechanical engineering.

With a shear strength of 20–30 N/mm² on carbon fiber, ET5422 is one of the strongest 2K epoxies in the Permabond range for composite bonding. Its 100:44 weight ratio is optimized for maximum final strength.

The steel strength of 22–26 N/mm² is also in the top range. ET5422 is the premium choice when maximum strength is required—for example, for load-bearing CFRP structures in rotor blades, sporting goods, or vehicle construction.

PREMIUM STRENGTH

Premium carbon fiber adhesive with superior shear strength — 22–26 N/mm² on steel and 20–30 N/mm² on carbon fiber. Specifically optimized for composite structural bonding in mechanical engineering, sporting goods and vehicle manufacturing.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with Permabond Cleaner A or a solvent (acetone, isopropanol). Lightly sand aluminum and copper to remove oxide layers.
2
Mix components A + B
For dual cartridges: Attach the mixing nozzle and press evenly (100:44 parts by weight mixing ratio). For larger containers: Weigh out the resin and hardener in the correct ratio and mix thoroughly until no streaks are visible. Avoid air bubbles.
3
Apply adhesive + join components
Apply the mixed adhesive to a bonding surface within the pot life (—). Join the components with sufficient pressure to ensure the adhesive is distributed over the entire bonding surface.
4
Fix components in place during curing
Use a clamping device or vise to prevent the components from moving during curing. Wait for handling strength and functional strength to be determined according to the TDS (Technical Data Sheet).
5
Full curing at room temperature
Final strength is typically reached after 24 hours at 23 °C. Increasing the temperature by 8 °C halves the curing time; lower temperatures slow down the process. If required, optional post-curing at 60–80 °C for maximum strength.

Important instructions

Important instructions
Precise weighing required (100:44 ratio) — no volumetric cartridge. Degrease and, if necessary, roughen surfaces before bonding. Test compatibility on thermoplastic substrates.
storage
Store at 5 to 25 °C. Keep 2K epoxy components in closed packaging — protect the hardener especially from moisture.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond ET5422

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Premium high-strength 2K epoxy — 22–26 N/mm² steel, 20–30 N/mm² carbon fiber bonding. The 2K epoxy is mixed in a 100:44 weight ratio and offers a pot life of —.

Mix both components in a 100:44 ratio by weight — using a mixing nozzle for dual cartridges, weigh precisely for larger containers. Apply within the pot life (—) and join components. Full curing typically occurs after 24 hours at room temperature.

The pot life of Permabond ET5422 is typically — at 23 °C. Higher temperatures shorten, lower temperatures lengthen the pot life. Mixing quantities above approximately 100 g may gel more quickly due to an exothermic reaction.

Permabond ET5422 bonds reliably to: steel: 22–26 N/mm²; carbon fiber: 20–30 N/mm². For thermoplastic substrates, test compatibility before series production.

Permabond ET5422 does not have specific industry-specific approvals such as EU 10/2011 (food), UL94 (fire protection), or Boeing/Airbus (aerospace). For general industrial applications, the product is approved according to Permabond standards.

Permabond ET5422 is a premium, high-strength 2-component epoxy 100:44 — a carbon fiber champion (20–30 N/mm²) (100:44 parts by weight mix, pot life). Permabond ET514 is a standard 1:1 (1:1, 30–50 min pot life) — easy 1:1 mixing.

From the Permabond 2K epoxy range, select according to application, mixing ratio, and strength requirements: Permabond ET5422 (Premium High-Strength 2K Epoxy 100:44 — Carbon Fiber Champion); Permabond ET514 (Standard 1:1); Permabond ET515 (Aerospace Flexible); Permabond ET5441 (Thermally Conductive UL94). For aerospace applications, see ET515 (Aircraft Seat Trays); for food applications, see ET5162 (EU 10/2011 + FDA); for thermal conductivity/fire protection, see ET5441 (UL94-V0).
