Permabond A011 is a low-strength anaerobic threadlocker — designed for screw connections that need to be loosened at any time during maintenance or repair using standard tools, without damaging the screw or thread.

With a viscosity of 500 mPa·s, A011 flows into threads up to M20 (¾") and fills gaps up to 0.12 mm. Curing begins in the absence of air and in contact with metal — typical for anaerobic adhesives — and reaches handling strength after 15 minutes and full strength after 24 hours.

The low breakaway torque of 4 N·m and the low continuing torque of 5 N·m make the A011 the first choice when screw connections need to be loosened with standard tools without heating. WRAS approval qualifies the product for applications involving direct contact with drinking water.

APPLICATION PROFILE

Low-strength and tool-removable — Permabond A011 is the right choice when screws and threads need to be easily loosened for maintenance or disassembly after bonding. Despite its low strength, the bond offers vibration resistance and corrosion protection.

What distinguishes Permabond A011

Tool-removable
Low breakaway and tightening torques — screws can be loosened at any time with standard tools without heating.
Vibration resistant
Despite low strength, reliable protection against vibrations and dynamic loads.
Corrosion protection
Seals the thread gaps and protects against moisture and corrosion.
WRAS approved for drinking water
Qualified for direct contact with drinking water — sanitary and water treatment plants.
Single-component
No mixing, no heat curing — apply directly from the bottle.
UV fluorescence
Curing test possible with UV light — quality control in line production.

What is Permabond A011 used for?

Maintenance and service components
Threads that need to be disassembled regularly — inspection screws, adjusting screws, aligning threads.
Adjustment screws requiring correction
If subsequent adjustments must remain possible.
Sanitary and water facilities
WRAS-approved — contact with drinking water permitted.
Sensitive workpieces
Low loosening torque protects large or sensitive components from damage during disassembly.
General screw locking mechanism with maintenance requirements
What if classic high-strength threadlockers were too tight?.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with Permabond Cleaner A or a solvent (acetone, isopropanol). Rough surfaces (~25 µm) result in higher bond strength than polished surfaces.
2
Apply adhesive
Apply Permabond A011 directly from the bottle — for through holes, apply a stripe along the thread length; for blind holes, apply a few drops to the bottom. Do not touch the nozzle to metal surfaces (this will cause premature hardening in the bottle).
3
assembling components
Insert the screws and tighten them to the required torque. For shaft-hub fits, assemble the components before the adhesive begins to cure.
4
Allow to harden
Anaerobic curing begins in the absence of air and in contact with metal. Handling strength is typically achieved after 15 minutes, functional strength after 1 hour, and full strength after 24 hours at 23 °C.
5
Accelerate curing (optional)
Permabond A905 activator can be used on inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum) or at low temperatures — applied to one adhesive surface, allowed to evaporate, then adhesive applied to the other side.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
Not suitable for use in compounds that come into direct contact with steam or pure oxygen. Avoid prolonged contact with strong acids, alkalis, or polar solvents. May attack some thermoplastics—compatibility testing is recommended.
storage
Store at 5 to 25 °C. Anaerobic adhesives lose their reactivity upon contact with metal — do not touch the tip of the bottle to metal surfaces, do not pour the adhesive back into the bottle.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond A011

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond A011 is a single-component, anaerobic acrylic adhesive with a viscosity of 500 mPa·s and a gap-filling capacity of up to 0.12 mm. It provides low-strength threadlocking and can be removed at any time with standard tools. Anaerobic adhesives cure in the absence of air and in contact with metal—ideal for tight-tolerance metallic joints.

Anaerobic adhesives like Permabond A011 remain liquid in the bottle (due to contact with air and oxygen) and only begin to harden after bonding under anaerobic conditions and metal-to-metal contact. Curing starts at the metal surface and progresses into the bond gap. The product cures quickly on steel and copper; on stainless steel and zinc, the Permabond A905 activator may be beneficial.

Yes — Permabond A011 is a low-strength threadlocker (4 N·m breakaway torque) and can be removed at any time with standard tools without heating. Designed for maintenance and service.

Permabond A011 is approved according to WRAS drinking water regulations . These certifications qualify the product for the specified applications — such as direct contact with drinking water in the case of WRAS and KTW approvals.

Permabond A011 typically reaches handling strength after 15 minutes and functional strength after 1 hour at 23 °C on M10 steel. Final strength is reached after 24 hours. On inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc) or at low temperatures, the curing time is extended—Permabond A905 activator accelerates the process.

Permabond A011 is a low-strength threadlocker (500 mPa·s viscosity, 0.12 mm gap filling, 4 N·m breakaway torque). Permabond A113 is a medium-strength threadlocker (500 mPa·s, 0.12 mm gap filling, 12 N·m breakaway torque) — medium strength — higher locking. Both belong to the anaerobic Permabond A series.

The choice depends on the application: Permabond A011 (low-strength threadlocker); Permabond A113 (medium-strength); Permabond A130 (medium-strength WRAS); Permabond A126 (wicking). For inactive surfaces (stainless steel, zinc, aluminum), Permabond A905 activator should also be used to accelerate curing.
