Permabond 920 is the medium viscosity allyl cyanoacrylate variant of the 919/920/922 series — a standard gap filler with the characteristic post-cure high temperature resistance up to 250 °C, additionally biocompatible and MIL-A-46050C Type V Class 2 approved.
With a viscosity of 80 mPa·s, 920 is medium-viscosity—the standard range for cyanoacrylates—and fills gaps up to 0.15 mm. Its handling strength is 15–20 seconds on steel. On phenolic resin, 920 achieves a remarkable 14 N/mm², which distinguishes the allyl chemistry as a high-tech variant.
Like 919, 920 utilizes a two-stage curing process: After 4 hours of room-temperature bonding, the bond is post-cured for 2 hours at 150 °C — after which it is permanently load-bearing up to 250 °C. In addition to MIL-A-46050C Type V Class 2 approval, 920 is cytotoxicity-tested and therefore qualified for high-temperature applications in medical and hygiene-related environments.
MIL-A-46050C Type V Class 2 + biocompatible (cytotoxicity tested). With two-stage post-cure curing (4 h RT + 2 h at 150 °C), it is permanently resistant up to 250 °C — the medium viscosity variant in the unique allyl cyanoacrylate series.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond 920
Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.
Permabond 920 is an allyl cyanoacrylate superglue with a viscosity of 80 mPa·s and a maximum gap filling of 0.15 mm. Medium viscosity allyl cyanoacrylate — MIL Class 2, biocompatible, with post-cure up to 250 °C.
Permabond 920 reliably bonds steel (19–23 N/mm²), aluminum (8–9 N/mm²), ABS (>6 N/mm² (substrate failure)), PVC (>6 N/mm² (substrate failure)), polycarbonate (>5 N/mm² (substrate failure)), as well as Buna-N rubber and similar elastomers. For polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is required.
Permabond 920 is approved according to MIL-A-46050C Type V Class 2 (existing designs), cytotoxicity testing passed — qualified for demanding industrial applications.
Permabond 920 reaches handling strength on steel in 15–20 seconds. Other typical curing times are 10–15 seconds (Buna N) and 10–15 seconds (phenol). The final strength of 19–23 N/mm² (steel) is reached after 24 hours. Temperature, humidity, and substrate affect the curing rate.
Permabond 920 offers a viscosity of 80 mPa·s, a gap filling capacity of 0.15 mm, and a shear strength of 19–23 N/mm² on steel. Permabond 919 has a viscosity of 2–6 mPa·s, a gap filling capacity of 0.05 mm, and a shear strength of 20–22 N/mm² on steel (ultra-low viscosity, MIL Class 1, Wicking). Both utilize an allyl cyanoacrylate base (or a related cyanoacrylate variant).
Permabond 920 should be stored unopened refrigerated at 2 to 7 °C and is stable until the printed expiration date. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening—this prevents condensation inside, which would reduce its shelf life. Opened bottles remain functional for several months if stored correctly, although the curing rate may decrease over time. We recommend a test bond to check reactivity before critical production applications.
From the Permabond cyanoacrylate range, select according to viscosity and special properties: Permabond 920 (80 mPa·s, 0.15 mm gap width, with post-cure); Permabond 919 (2–6 mPa·s, 0.05 mm, ultra-low viscosity, MIL Class 1, wicking); Permabond 922 (1,200–2,000 mPa·s, 0.4 mm, paste, MIL Class 3, 0.4 mm gap); Permabond 820 (100 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, high temperature + biocompatible, without post-cure). For polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is always required.
