Permabond 802 is the medium-viscosity, high-temperature variant of the 800 series — a standard gap filler with targeted improved heat resistance, designed for general bonding applications in temperature-stressed environments.

With a viscosity of 90–110 mPa·s, 802 covers the standard range of cyanoacrylate viscosities and fills gaps up to 0.15 mm. On virtually all common substrates—steel, Buna-N, phenolic resin—the handling strength is 10 to 15 seconds.

The high-temperature formulation distinguishes 802 from standard CAs like 102: At elevated continuous temperatures, its strength is maintained significantly longer. On ABS and PVC, the fracture test results in substrate failure. Permabond 802 is the medium-viscosity variant in the 801 / 802 / 820 / 825 series.

SPECIAL FEATURE

What distinguishes Permabond 802

Medium viscosity standard geometry
90–110 mPa·s — fills a 0.15 mm gap width without pre-processing.
High temperature resistant
Retains significantly more strength than standard cyanoacrylates at elevated continuous temperatures.
Quick hand strength
10–15 seconds on steel, Buna-N and phenol — timed production possible.
Substrate failure in ABS and PVC
The bond is stronger than the plastic substrate — if it breaks, the component tears.
Solvent-free
100% reactive — no mixing, no heat curing.
Steel strength at the highest level
19–23 N/mm² shear strength on blasted steel.

What is Permabond 802 used for?

General industrial assembly
Standard bonding applications with increased temperature requirements — machine, equipment and apparatus construction.
Line production
10–15 seconds of hand strength is suitable for timed production processes.
Components near heat sources
Adhesive bonding in devices or machines with elevated operating temperatures.
Standard adhesive bonds with heat tolerance
If the gap width and substrates correspond to standard geometries, but the ambient temperature is higher.
Maintenance and repair
Fast component fixing in workshops and service centers.

processing

1
Clean surfaces
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Degrease with acetone or isopropanol. Lightly sand aluminum, copper, and their alloys to remove the oxide layer.
2
Use adhesive sparingly
Apply Permabond 802 only drop by drop to an adhesive surface — the thin layer is crucial for rapid curing.
3
assembling components
Quickly and correctly align the parts. Apply enough pressure so that the adhesive spreads into a thin film.
4
Secure until firmly in place
Do not disturb or realign until handling strength is reached (typically a few seconds to one minute, depending on the substrate). Final strength is reached after 24 hours.
5
Remove adhesive residue
Excess adhesive can be removed with Permabond CA Solvent 2, nitromethane or acetone.

Important instructions

Not suitable for / Important notes
For porous or difficult surfaces, Permabond CSA activator is recommended. Permabond POP primer is mandatory before bonding PP, PE, PTFE, or silicone.
storage
Store refrigerated at 2 to 7 °C. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening – this prevents condensation and protects the shelf life.

Frequently asked questions about Permabond 802

Practical application and design questions — answered by SILITECH.

Permabond 802 is an ethyl cyanoacrylate instant adhesive with a viscosity of 90–110 mPa·s and a maximum gap filling of 0.15 mm. Medium-viscosity, high-temperature cyanoacrylate adhesive — fast curing, suitable for a wide range of substrates.

Permabond 802 reliably bonds steel (19–23 N/mm²), ABS (>6 N/mm² (substrate failure)), PVC (>5 N/mm² (substrate failure)), polycarbonate (6 N/mm²), as well as Buna-N rubber and similar elastomers. For polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is required.

High-temperature resistant ethyl cyanoacrylate variant in medium viscosity — specifically developed for applications with elevated continuous temperatures. Provides significantly higher strength at higher temperatures than standard cyanoacrylates.

Permabond 802 reaches handling strength on steel in 10–15 s. Other typical curing times: 10–15 s (Buna N), 10–15 s (Phenol). The final strength of 19–23 N/mm² (steel) is reached after 24 hours. Temperature, humidity, and substrate affect the curing rate.

Permabond 802 offers a viscosity of 90–110 mPa·s, a gap filling capacity of 0.15 mm, and a shear strength of 19–23 N/mm² on steel. Permabond 801 has a viscosity of 10–15 mPa·s, a gap filling capacity of 0.05 mm, and a shear strength of 19–23 N/mm² on steel (ultra-low wicking). Both utilize an ethyl cyanoacrylate base (or a related cyanoacrylate variant).

Permabond 802 should be stored unopened at 2 to 7 °C and is stable until the printed expiration date. Allow the bottle to warm to room temperature before opening—this prevents condensation inside, which would reduce its shelf life. Opened bottles remain functional for several months if stored correctly, although the curing rate may decrease over time. We recommend a test bond to check reactivity before critical production applications.

From the Permabond cyanoacrylate range, select according to viscosity and special properties: Permabond 802 (90–110 mPa·s, 0.15 mm gap width, medium viscosity); Permabond 801 (10–15 mPa·s, 0.05 mm, ultra-low viscosity, wicking); Permabond 820 (100 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, high temperature + biocompatible); Permabond 825 (100–150 mPa·s, 0.15 mm, premium 180 °C / 1,000 h). For polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, and silicone, pretreatment with Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) is always required.
